Banner designing

I know this isn't technically website design, but this is way busier than the Graphics section of the Creativity stuff. Can anyone here help me with the creation of an awesome banner for my RPG? (My RPG) It's hosted in the RPG Frontier, and all the top kids around here have fancy-ass banners, and I have nothing. Thus I need a hand.

If anyone gets really bored and wants to have a stab at making one themselves, the RPG is based on Joss Whedon's 'Firefly' series, and is called 'Icarus'. Basically, space bandits meets the Wild West. I assume most of you here will know it, as it's kinda a nerd cult phenomenon, but if you don't, go watch it. It'll make you happy.

Any help whatsoever would be appreciated, even if it's just directions on how to use Photoshop. So far I suck at that too. I don't even have Photoshop on this new laptop, actually....
