Ah yeah... that ^

Why do we need them? I can't warn them, I can't track them, I can't ban them... I can't do anything, so they can piss in my face while I just sit here, lol :p

As SEE's growing again, we attract new ppl to T3A. Some of them are lacking in what other might call manners =p I wish I had never turned down that offer of becoming Admin long ago... I wanna kick butt :D But I guess none can touch Guests, so... why not remove them?

I don't know if that would be such a good idea. Requiring people to register before posting is not such a good idea as it may deter away someone who actually may become an active member of the forums. Take me for example. My first posts on revora were guest posts. I didn't want to register to a site that I was brand new too and didn't know if I would stay on the forums. Sure, there are some guests that can be troublesome, but very rarely does anything get out of hand.

Yeah, I do see the point... hm, well, I guess I'm just a bit annoyed at myself for declining ability to moderate stuff like this myself. Oh well... maybe after SEE is done, I can "pay back" to T3A by helping as Staff and keep this house clear of such mororns that degrade it =)

You can turn off guest posting for certain forums. RA's forums don't allow guest posting for example (Dain's choice :p).

If a guest post annoys you Chris, just click on Report and we'll take a look at his IP and stuff like that to see what we can do about it.

Thank you Ched... I do know that though. It's just something that I'd like to take care of myself since it's a reoccurring dilemma somtimes. But never mind atm... We'll see what happens when Beta 4.7 is iminent. Thanks

Actually I think allowing guests to post is a good idea it gives them a feel for the forum and helps them decide whether or not they want to register.

Your name is quite suspicious for this kind of opinion, Best Guest ;). Anyway, this idea has been wildly discussed in this network for many years with people pro guest posting (allowing people to try before registering or letting them post their opinion quickly) and people against guest posting (you can't warn, monitor, ban, etc... although registered members may evade these punishments as well... err.. I'm very biased pro guest posting person, of course :D)

Thanks for all the feedback. I guess my issue is mostly a lack of being in total control of my sub forum. I'm old and used to managing things myself from all kinds of various stages in life, including a Swedish forum with 40 000 users =p

I understand that an Admin can't be "detained" to a cetain sub forum only, and that my lack of prescence all over Revora might render me less appropriate as such a "Staffer". And last time the issue came up, I declined myself since I'd also be ashed from not having time to administrate more than those places I visit. However, if things turn out to be as completely crazy as they where around Beta 4.5 (I think we all remeber that ;)) I might have to move to another forum where I will have this option. If so, that would in no way be caused by any dislike for Revora (I love this place and 95% of it's users :D), but mostly from the need of having total control of the activity, at the same time as it occurrs =)

We'll see what happens. Thanks again for the feedback. I realize we need to have Guests and why we can't remove that. It's just unfortionate that some ppl will abuse it.

Naz, you got realize that with a such a big and popular mod, there's always going to be someone out there who has something non-constructive to say. I wouldn't focus so much on the 5% that give you problems but instead on the other 95%. ;)

My suggestion would actually be, if its so popular and overflowing with visitors, surely theres got to be some good ones too. See if you can find someone willing to moderate it if the guests are proving too much for you. Removing guest privileges is always a last resort, it discourages posts and visits from the good as well as the bad.
Plus, have you ever been on a forum and wanted to make a comment but not been able to without spending 5mins registering? I know it shits me...
