Gloating...

Let me just tell you things are shaping up well. Not a lot of activity is visible on the forum but don't let that fool you - Apollo's been working hard on diversifying the sides and even going a short way to returning RS to its roots by adding actual 'branches' to the tech tree. Now, I know a lot of you already knew that, but believe me when I tell you this will actually completely rewrite your playbooks. No longer will you be able to mass up all your fave units into one nice bundle and then throw them...oh no! Some won't be available down certain branches (and to access anything beyond the higher-mid-level units, you HAVE to choose a branch), and some will actually disappear from the build menu when you pick an option.
And there's no going back once you've picked, either.
Other changes are graphical overhauls, as well as new units to make up the new branched tech tree. I'll post up a few previews of units, both changed and new, soon.
The only problem is the new manual is going to take aaages, since pretty much everything looks different, or behaves somewhat differently, not to mention their tech branch placements and new prices...

Yes, Dreadnought Tank is still there.
Ahh that manual... Personally I think it should get released BEFORE the mod. Just as a final blow to morale.
Who's morale would that be? Besides wouldn't that spoil most of finding out fun

Cheat device?? if you got skill, you won't need one...
anyway Branches, their just something you can pick during the game instead of picking a country/general in menus prior to the game and effectively they allow specialise...like if you had Air branch, it would be kinda like airforce general in Generals ZH but no, there isn't air branch for any of the sides atm planned

The only written law in a C&C game I ever saw is please Mr.Developer make it fun and give me a lot of **** to explode, o and don't you ever get another soul to play Kane but Joe Kucan. Aside from those two rules, all bets are off =) hehe

Anyway... Branches, it's a good idea, It actually adds something deeper to the old RA2 style gameplay.

Now, allow me to begin by presenting an AL transmission...
Welcome back, Commander.
It's been some time since you last took to the field. I'd hoped that the turn of the millennium would be the end of our worries, but alas the situation's even more dire. A lot's changed since you've been away. Allow me to fill you in on the updates to your arsenal.
Chrono Tank
The Chrono Tank, in principle, has changed little. We've updated the chassis, made it phase in from the temporal rift a lot faster, and given it a new suite of missiles. These advances don't come cheap, and top brass, in their infinite wisdom, wants to maximise cost-efficiency so they're only giving advanced units to the Commanders who'll put them to best use. Therefore, use of Chrono Tank is restricted to only Commanders who specialise in the use of Chrono technology.
Condor Tankbuster
The new Condor combat chassis is much more streamlined and uses advanced thrust vectoring. The energy cannons are just as effective as they ever were, and despite its more slender appearance, it can take even more of a beating than the old one.
Decimator Assault Tank
We know how much you loved the old faithful, but I've got to say I reckon you'll be cheating on her for this baby. The new Decimator has thicker armour and a light photon blaster to give it a limited AA coverage, and believe me it'll need it - the new aerial units of all sides have toughened their armour, so we figured the more AA power we can put out there, the better. Don't think it'll let you down on what it's famous for - the triple-gun firepower still trumps its equivalent units. Well, except that Ontos mech, but that's another matter entirely...
I'll be feeding you more tactical information later, Commander. Keep your ears peeled for enemy communications intercepts, too. I'm sure they'll be briefing their newest batches of Commanders (or Subroutines) as well.
