Again, no joke about loading GFFA taking a while. It's been a few minutes already...

I reckon about 8 minutes on 3Ghz and 2GB Ram.

You may find the game clock slower than other campaigns, but this is probably good as you need more time to keep track of all those planets.

One tip - be careful about which space stations you build - if you run out of slots - youre stuck with what you have.

Second tip - remember your colony (Bottom left icon) dictates what sized of space base you can build
Your construction depends on your space bases.

So get your colony size up as quick as you can and then decide on your space bases. I woudn't bother with level 5 stuff for a while.

The master copy was about 12 MInutes load. Yuk.

*Cough cough bleed...*

10 minutes to load the full GFFA on my computer. And it's running at 2 FPS.

*Cough bleed die*

OK. Try dropping the screen resolution by 1 stage - that got me an extra 5 FPS when i tried it.

Hmmmm...Good point. 1440x900 could be the problem. Blah.

The CSA totally just owned me in skirmish. /dead

Not to be too critical, but I think you guys might have been a little overzealous when it came to populating the galaxy with so many units. So far, I haven't gotten one campaign to run smoothly enough for me to want to play it.

Now there are some 5 minutes left to complete download from FileFront; thenI'll have to wait until tonight's Christmas Eve familly celebrations are finished and on the late night I'll finally be able to install it and try to play. maybe cleaning some parts of my HD will be also necessary, as well as making some HD defragmentation... yet I hope that my ~2.7 GHz Athlon Dual Core with 2 GB RAM and 256MB GGeForce 7600 GT will be able to keep the al-galaxy campaign running quite smooth...
If not, then I'll have to think about buying more RAM...

EDIT: during writing this post the DL has eaccelerated and now is less than 2 minutes left...

I run a pc with 2.8 gh dualcore processor and a 2 gb DDR2, but still the GC is extremely slow. And also, when I tried to save my 'progress' of 1 turn, it gave me an exeption. I'm sorry to say so, but I liked the version without the lag better :( the loading time for the GFFA isn't that long for me, so I'll be trying again, but I hoped you guys would have reduced the lag since the last version, but it's actually a lot more. skirmish was very good though, guess Ill be playing that for now. Good job you guys, shame about the lag though.

7.5 minutes to load MENU
~12 minutes to load "..... rim" campaign
why so slow?
version 1.0 was much faster.

My machine is no slouch with a Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz, 4Gb RAM, and 8800GT.
GFFA is at a playable speed, but it wouldn't be fun playing at that speed. Estimating 10-15 FPS
Credit where credit is due though, GFFA would normally be ten times worse with the original version using that number of units.

Aster: It's loading a whole lot more than before.

<DevXen> Today I was at the store and saw a Darth Vader action figure that said "Choking Hazard." It was great.

Yeah the whole loading for several minutes till the menu is a bit of a pain for me, 12 or so minutes seems right for me for GFFA if not more only to get an exception after i saved within the first green bar of the week with putting something in construction in all my space queues very annoying, since i've already lost 14 weeks of inner rim play to an exception.

Anyways, the stations are a bit confusing since all it tells you is the standard vanilla game description minus garrisons. But, ive figured out which stations add what, i'll give it one more go before i call it anight if i get another exception error.

Again the 5ish minute load to menu is a major killer . . . if you ask me.

Yeah, it seems the only things to run at a decent speed for me are the menu and skirmish. Which is awesome, by the way.

Griffinn, how far are you getting? The logo screen?

Edit: Wow... PR 1.0 campaigns file (All of them are in one file) is 654Kb. In 1.1, GFFA alone is 1.42Mb.

Great work on the 1.1 release!

Are you starting a new bug report thread?

If so, move this to it.
I've got one in the core world campaign,
did nothing special, just building and researching...

Here's the code, without the stack dump:
