Hello all again!

Well... I've realized that this year it's impossible for me to mod during the classes so I've taken advantage of those holidays to make some new stuff for the mod.

Some months ago I made a topic talking about the interior buildings (here). It allows the player to build inside a building and to move their troops inside of it. Also, you can put your units on the walls and shoot your enemies from there. In addition, Dwarves can't build external buildings anywhere. They can build two big fortresses (just like minifactions, Khazad-Dum and Nogrod) outside the main fortress but only near the cliff or the mountains. (That's perfect for the dwarves, whose buildings were inside mountains). However, I've been working in some units too, like a huge battering ram or a moveable earth-hammer. Ah, I forgot to say that this huge mountain that you can see in the screenshots is for skirmish, just like a base in bfme 1.

This is the fortress from the outside. I posted this screenshot in the old topic.

That's what you've got at the beggining of any skirmish game. Your king sitting (which you can call for some money to fight) and some uncontrollable guards walking. To call soldiers, you have to make an unit called "Messenger" that spawns an army (only once) at the nearest edge of the map.

You can change the angle of the camera whenever you want.

That's the battering ram. The model of the dwarves on it will be changed. That face is based on the masks of the dwarves. Tolkien said that dwarves, in the battles, used masks to frighten their enemies.

Another perspective of the mountain.

The earth hammer. It makes a little earthquake around it. This texture will be changed soon.

Workers are the ones who build the external buildings. They also can fight, but they're very bad.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about (the mod has been in achieved modifications for some months or years so new users won't know anything about it xD), the Four Ages is a mod for BFME 2 that recreates the Silmarillion, the book which talks about what happened in Middle Earth thousands of years ago before the war of the ring. So far, I've finished the Angband faction and I'm working with the second faction, the dwarves. You can download a beta(of Angband), watch a Trailer (made by Dreamer) and some screenshots in the webpage of my signature (click on the image).

Yayz!

Only thing is, I don't like how technologically-excellent you're making them out to be :\ everything else is fantastic, though.

Very unique and interesting concepts here. :p Just curious, did you ever get the transparency effect to work for the mountain shell?

No. I didn't. It's very strange since it works with the lowest graphic settings (you don't see a transparent mountain but the model disappears when you are near it).

If you had browsed the BFME2 official website you should have seen a concept art of a xbow dwarf. i really liked the idea and wanted to make it in-game (eventually i start doing something else) I think is somthing distinct from the old dwarf axe range thing .
As for the earth hammer, in the world of Ancient Power many mechanic machines were designed ( P.S. The mechanic worm of Angband was incredible :p )

Yes, I know.. I saw the Dwarven crossbowman concept art on MEVault when it was released, and hated it from the moment I saw it :p as for the 'earth hammer' it wasn't in the books, either. The 'great, terrible worms of metal' that issued from Angband's dungeons to sack Gondolin were.

Erm...I dont understand this. But the screenshots look cool. Meh, just going to download your beta and the next one to check it out. Seems cool.

Indeed the Earth-hammer wasen't in the books .But why not give to each rase a unique siege machine ?

P.S: I thought your mod has only men, elves and angband . Whatz with the dwarves?

There should be a balance between unique, Lore-based, and physical possibility ;) Right now all I see in that area is emphasis on unique, hehe.

Sorry to hijack your topic, Morgoth >.>

"Earth hammers" and crossbows

Yeah, earth hammers seem something "stupid" or "unrealistic" but I wanted to add more types of machines. I was tired of the typical battering ram and the catapult. The same about crossbows. Axe throwers are really stupid (why would they waste so many axes?? Arrows are easier to make.) and all the other factions will have bows.

P.S: I thought your mod has only men, elves and angband . Whatz with the dwarves?

Initially dwarves were not in the mod. Anyway, now I'm not following a plan or a list of things, I'm (relatively) improvising and changing things I don't like. I had some nice ideas for the dwarves so I decided to make them.

Well here's something that I did yesterday. Nothing interesting, just another dwarven worker skin. I wanted to make a new system to build siege weapons: You build a horde of dwarven workers equiped with materials to construct a siege weapon anywhere you want. I don't know if it will be possible to disarm the weapon again easily. I'll look at it.

I think the Earth Hammers are a cool idea, even if they aren't in the lore... I agree that throwing tons of axes is a waste, and that the Dwarves need more types of machines. :p

Perhaps you should ask Rob38 to move your mod forums out of the archive and into the real world? :p
