Fiction Writing Contest

We certainly could, and now shall.
We are now declaring this writing competition begun. The theme is 'isolation/separation' (they go together pretty well, but you only need to use one of them) and the limit is 1500 words, with a 5% margin of error (that means absolute limit of 1575 words, but it can be as short as you like). The closing date and time will be Saturday 2nd May at 00:00 British Summer Time. If anyone wants to say what that is in American time, feel free. Good luck, participants.
The judges will be Vortigern (me), True Lord of Chaos (whose post I am editing) and an external third judge in order to avoid bias, unintentional or otherwise. Oh, and you are not allowed to use anything that has already been posted on Revora. Sorry.
EDIT: Well, the whole thing's closed now. We'll get back to you soon, by which I mean when TLC replies to any of the PMs I've sent him.
Hello everyone. I am back.

I shall definitely have a chat with whoever runs the writing and creativity area (I don't know myself yet ) about this. I might even compete as long as it doesn't affect my uni work

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.
I had the meaning of life in my signature, but it exceeded the character limit.

If you meet me:
Have some courtesy,
Have some sympathy,
And some taste.
Use all your well-learned politesse,
Or I'll lay your soul to waste.

TLC, as this was your suggestion, I hereby invite you to join me in judging this competition. I will also find a third external judge so as to rule out the possibility of bias and favouritism.

Do we really need a 'theme'? Why not judge on things like grammar, originality, and vocabulary, among others?
I'm assuming that the judges will be judging on grammar, originality, and vocabulary, among others, AND your ability to write to the theme.
Obviously a well-written piece is a well-written piece, regardless of whether it's to the theme or not; it's more of a challenge to write to a theme is all.
