Ever since i saw Yuri's brute, and RS's equivalent , i've been wondering if it was possible to have a Sword Based infantry in RS.

Funny you should mention, I've had the thought in past but there isn't any particularly good shps for the role other than maybe the one starcraft one, of course gameplay wise such infantry would be a assassin (cloaked) as else he wouldn't work. :p

What about a Civ3 conversion? I'm sure you could find a fan made civ unit that would fit, this for example.

i have been searching for a unit that might work for a friend's mod. but yours seems that it could work with out the game freezing or acting up.

@ Mig, thx but civ inf are too big and resize down would screw their arm etc to have same size as my other inf.

game freezing up or acting up? that's likely poor coding/map issue unless pc itself is overheating...

To be honest, why would you have sword infantry in a world with lasers and big explosions happening all the time? Have you never seen Indiana Jones? Well, I think half the stuff in RS would make a mess of ya way worse :p

^ When you put it that way, it's very practical. I can picture the Legion getting assassination infantry with plasma swords and stealth generators. An infantry version of a stealth tank if you will. He only uncloaks right when he attacks an enemy infantry/vehicle and swings his blade to one hit kill the enemy soldier. If it's a vehicle, he either hacks away at it or instantly kills off the driver much like the League Hijacker. Works against all human factions and NEXUS.

Indy Logic still applies, yes. If a unit/structure with the detection of enemy cloaked units is nearby, Assassin loses invisibility for that duration; that is when he is a simple moving target.

This is a potential idea that Apollo may end up putting in a Legion advanced tech branch.

No.

(The Legion are not silly Protoss or Halo Elites, also enemies have developed decent scanning countermeasures, heck even dogs and infantry can see through the cloak plus why would Legion use (in some cases inferior) technology used by other sides when their own tech is suffice/superior enough.)
