Same here, it's always good to see a fresh new face with a sense of humour.

Anyway, the short answer is yes, since in a forum where admins without a sense of sarcasm rule, I can't go very far without 'offending' certain people.

Oh, and good night Grim, if the 'see you in 8 Earth hours' part was a metaphor for going to sleep.
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

That post offends me. How dare you insinuate I have no sense of sarcasm?

Frankly, no. I behave as much of an asshole here now as I did when Tom and Arg were in charge (aka: The Golden Age). I do find a lot of the current forum-police to be more buzzkill (although, on the plus side, they do their job more thoroughly) than previous groups.

Essentially, we've moved from the good old honest-to-goodness British coppers to something more resembling the Deutschespolizei. I wouldn't say we're quite at Gestapo level yet, but it's coming, mark my words.

I'm curious how we'll pull of the Gestapo style of admin.

I think Admins/Staff set the level of accepted behaviour in a forum especially to new members.
Not very directly but as a sort of yard stick.

It does feel a lot more buzzkill, though, as though what is acceptable now is much more stringent than it was back in the day. A LOT more.

I like to think I'm a fairly chilled out kind of admin. Much as with everything else in my life, I refuse to take it seriously. Granted, this may not be the best way to deal with essay deadlines and girlfriends, but it seems to work here, and it does leave me constantly worry-free.

Anyway, yeah, the only time I use my editing powers are for spelling and grammar, and even then only for the really godawful examples.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Does the behavior of the Hosted group effect the behavior of the admins?
