well, take out insane USAF is a challenge... now I can choose the map, can choose opponent and he still has his base so earlier than me...

I'll try it until I would won, or until the new contra will be released and I will do it alone!

The aggressive AirF general is harder than I meant for him to be, and he will be toned down, but the Insane is exactly what I aimed for. If you kill him save a replay.

Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

I have just crushed him, but I didn't have replay (I have wooden PC, so I turned replays off and forgot it). I had only two pics from the first game, so I did it again. I know, the second time I wasn't too successful (loosing too many tankhunters in vain), but it's replay of winning + two pics. Where should I post them?

Hi I just want to say I liked this mod. The sheer number of build-able units is just epic.

Don't know if this counts as a bug but Demo general never uses anti-stealth (or at least he keeps his vans in his base and doesn't move them around.

use Kassad (stealth) and you will win even on insane if you camouflage enough of your units (spam snipers, etc) and use black market powers. Took me over an hour but I managed to beat him on insane with Kassad. I was thinking you should at least make Demo AI bring his vans or anti-stealth to your base but since radar van is so weak, I'm not sure it's a decent idea but there's no way he will ever win against Kassad if he doesn't use anti stealth.

Tank General AI doesn't suffer much from this (overlord drop into your base). Haven't tried vs-ing AF general yet, but maybe you could tell me if AF AI uses anti stealth.

I need to know what version of ZeroHour you have and I need to see a copy of your crash log. You can find it in the ZeroHour folder under your "My Documents"

How do I know which version? I think itd 1.0.4 a I've installed one patch.

*****************************************************************************

It is installed in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour' When I load it it says 'You have encountered a serious error. Serious errors can be caused by many things including viruses, overheated hardware and hardware that does not meet the minimum specifications for the game'. All other mods except contra and remix work fine- so it cant be to do with the hardware. Can I find the crash report in Zero hour data? For some reason that's the only zero hour folder in 'my documents'. Do you know why the uninstaller doesn't work(nothing happens when I click on it.)? Because I could try re-installing. What is the crash report named as?

Ok, I think I got it. There are two.

Just started playing again after a freaking virus locked my computer up and I had to system restore( fixed the comp quickly). However it screwed up a TON of my games, this one included. I was slow to realize that it had made backups of a bunch of different things, and for some reason copied a lot of my game files to a separate location. So, long story short, I'm back and enjoying Remix once again.

I think I've mentioned this before, but I think there's an issue with the "guard" button (default hotkey "G"). If I remember right that was to stop certain units, mostly artillery I think, from moving from certain locations once you've gotten them positioned. I was wondering if there was a way to get all units to interact to the same button in different ways. So you could hotkey the guard and guardclose to the same button.

Other than that.... I just realized I am posting in the bugs section, not suggestions. :crazed:

Can't wait to start playing a more finalized version, and seeing all the new stuff. On a similar note, are you gonna be polishing the 1.0 version after release? I bet this thing is gonna be super awesome on a resume. :D

Tom, I've merged your posts into one. Now that you have an account (welcome to Revora!) you can edit them to avoid chain posting. I don't read the forum EVERY day, but I always read everything posted in every topic when I do read it.

as for version, are you using standard zero hour or "The First Decade" version?

The crash logs are exactly what I needed to see. If it was an INI mismatch, or a bad install of the mod it should have a line about "aslt_rebel". That not there so I don't think it's the Mod install itself. What version of windows do you have? and can you play ZeroHour without any mods? If you can normally play ZeroHour, but not after you installed Remix, try right clicking on the Remix icon and adding compatibility mode for XP and admin rights.

I know the pain if loosing a system. My laptop had a total HD crash, and a couple months later the motherboard blew up. 3 months and counting with out my system. All my mod work and tools were on that system, so I'm eagerly awaiting it's return from repair.

How do I know if it's first decade? I've got this crash as well:

Release Crash at Tue Jul 05 19:54:26 2011
; Reason Error parsing INI file 'Data\INI\Object\aiobjects.ini' (Line: 'Object GLAVehicleCombatBikeTerrorist ')

Last error:

No idea what it means. /when I run Zero hour it comes up with escalation then gets the same error. I don't know if I can run without it because the un installer doesn't work. I've had shockwave in the pass- i've uninstalled it but I still see some files of it. I've got windows 7 home premium. Also, i've loaded Contra some time back, but I can't find it's files in my documents to get rid of it. Also, is there any way you can tell me why the un installer does nothing. I can uninstall it on this comp so I can play normal, and install remix on another one?

I just re installed Zh and generals, but when I load that I get the error. Before I installed any mods at all it worked. I don't know what to do!

Sorry I didn't edit but I can't currently access my account. I managed to get the uninstalled workinf. I just reinstalled the whole game but the same error I've mentioned before comes up. Does anyone know why this is happening?

The installer was a first attempt at automating the process. While it tested great on my own system plus 3 or 4 test systems it had some issues when released into the wide world, mostly because of the First Decade version. The installer was setup to make backups of any files it replaced. Because of this there is some renaming needed if it fails to install properly. I've taken the entire topic from the "How to Install on The First Decade" and compressed it into these steps...

1. Uninstall ZeroHour, and Delete the entire folder. Now re-install ZeroHour. We don't want any other files lurking around from failed installs of Remix, previous versions, or any other mod. Test ZeroHour to make sure it runs correctly without any mods.

2. Open your ZerHour folder. Go to /Data/Ini/ Delete any files you see here. ZH doesn't need it to run because there is a copy of "INIZH.Big" in the root folder, but they will override any mod files.

3. Run the Remix installer. Point it at the root folder of your ZeroHour install. In your game folder you should have four !Remix_ .big files. Audio, Art, Data, INI. (these must be directly in the folder where ZeroHour is installed) There should also be a RemixTools folder.

4. Inside the RemixTools folder you should find "Generals.csf.mod" and "SkirmishScripts.scb.mod". If they do not say ".mod" the end, but they show up as movies drop down to Step 100!. Now, rename "Generals.csf.mod" to "Generals.csf" and rename "SkirmishScripts.scb.mod" to "SkirmishScripts.scb"

5. Copy "Generals.csf" into your /Data/English folder

6. Copy "SkirmishScripts.scb" into your /data/Scripts folder

7. Start the game from the normal ZH icon, or the Remix icon. Play and enjoy. Enjoy is mandatory.

100. You have "Hide known File Extensions turned on. This is a terrible feature that makes life difficult for windows users. You need to turn it off.

101. Open "my computer"

102. Tap ALT-T one time, this will open your drop down tools.

103. Tap O, this will open the options.

104. click on the VIEW tab.

105. Uncheck "Hide Extensions for known file types"

106. click OK and now look in the folder. you'll see the proper file extensions now and can change the extension the same way you rename a file. Return to Step 4.

Thanks! Once again, sorry, but my comp is broken so I'm posting on my iPod- with no log in button. The only file in my escalation folder is uninstaller? Have I done something wrong? I will do what you said, but what do I do if normal zh doesnt work?

ok, well, if you've deleted everything from your ZH folder then there's nothing Remix related in it... ... if ZeroHour doesn't work it's not related to the mod. If you have a win7 or 64bit compatibility problem it's not impossible to work around, but it's a little out of my hands.

Does it matter if I go to programs and click on the escalation folder and the only thing inside is the uninstaller? What I'd not understand is that before any mod zh worked fine. Then I uninstalled it and it doesn't work.

if your install failed the uninstaller won't work right. You can just right-click delete that folder. If you've deleted the ZH folder and there are no Remix files on your system you're ready to start installing using the directions I posted in another topic.

I'm going to upload a newer version today, it has some improved network code that improves the mismatch error but doesn't completely fix it.
