Ok, so this image is still, as the title suggests, a work in progress. This is my first attempt at doing anything beyond paint-level stuff. Right now its basically the colour draft.

I'm using gimp to create my image and I've found it seems to work just as well as photoshop in every aspect so far. I bought myself a magazine with tutorials on photoshop use and have managed to follow its tips and instructions in gimp just fine (even with specifics like tools and brush settings, which is good).

I'm rather proud of the quality so far. Having made it completely from scratch its a massive step up from anything I've ever done before (on a digital medium), but i thought i'd post it up now and see if there's any useful feedback, instead of waiting till its done before showing anyone (meaning no public input).

So, without further ado, here is Arsencia's resident demoniser:

edit: i wasn't sure weather to place this here, or in the temple of muses, or both. I decided it was more relevant here. But what do you think vort? should i keep it here, or move it to the temple of muses and edit this post to direct people there?

May as well leave it in here. I have to say, that's absolutely nothing like Zhar looks in my head. I've always thought there'd be a greyish tinge to his skin, but it would still just be skin, not actually be grey. And I imagined him kinda wizened, what with being thousands of years old, but still sprightly and with full-on crazy eyes, which you can't really draw. (General you, that is.) Bloodshot just doesn't convey the right sense of utter insanity that comes with Zhar.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

The skin is still greyscale (from the original before i added the colour) cause i'm thinking of how to get it right. It needs to be corpsey and grey/pale, but not as it is now. Its hard to get a good balance so i decided to leave it.

Also, i find that really when imagining characters and stuff in RPG's like this, i don't actually flesh out any details, and form images in my mind often different to the description they've actually been given.

With Zhars eyes i remember deciding they would be clouded over, and yet imagining him i didn't really think of stuff like that.
(although, speaking of Zhar's craziness i've found that generally i haven't actually made him as insane as i had planned. Hes been evil, eccentric, but beyond his split personalities he hasn't acted very straight out mad at all.)

As for the wizened look, i originally had ideas for making old looking, like white hair and type sage-likeness, but when i decided on the life draining thing that he does i thought it made more sense for him to appear young till he started running on empty, where he suddenly decrepifies becoming super aged.

--------

I was kinda hoping this 'artisticness' (what with the maps and now my picture here) would get some other people to start getting their creative juices flowing(either in the form of art, or atleast activity), but there's been a depressing lack of activity in the entire RPG frontier (not that i can really talk, been busy with Math). Oh well...
