US Servicemen given the sack because they like men and not women.

And while this travesty against equal rights, human rights (I'm not opposed to human rights, I'm opposed to prisoners having some of the ones they do), human decency and against all the fundamental freedoms which the West has, for decades, trumpeted as being what the West does best, we have the Uncharismatic Oven Chip over here telling us how repealing the ruling of the homosexuality ban is bad, and that Obama is bad, gays are bad, blah blah fucking blah.

Honestly, when is your country going to get the fuck over itself and stop electing prudish, bigoted, closed-minded, blinkered, Tory (and that's just America's skewed idea of a left-wing politician) social Luddites to governmental positions where they can do such catastrophic harm to good, honest, hardworking American citizens who have put their lives on the line proudly for their country? Is a man like John McCain really a credible (read: rational) candidate for US Presidency? I mean hell, he did run for it a coupla years back, and all signs point to him having another crack of the whip when the throne comes up for grabs again.

What you have to ask yourselves is this:
Is he opposing this repealing because he genuinely believes that 'don't ask don't tell' is the right way to go? In which case, he's a cretinous, intolerant shitbag who should never have gotten office in the first place on those grounds.

Or is he opposing this repeating because the man who put it forward is a Democrat - and more to the point, a Democrat President, and therefore he is obligated to oppose it because he is a Republican, and the two groups are so partisan they could not agree on the wetness of water? In which case, he's a partisan shitbag who - like a disturbing number of his ilk - thinks more of toeing the party line than voting with conscious rational and balanced thinking - and should never have gotten office in the first place on those grounds.

"I am not saying this law should never change," Republican Senator John McCain said, but that it should not be done now and in the way the president wants.

This indicates, above all else, a bit of both.

Seriously, why is this such a big deal? I mean, put it this way - not every gay soldier is automatically going to 'out' themselves as a result of this ruling, in much the same way not every gay individual makes it blatant and openly obvious all the time that they're gay. They don't walk around with a big rainbow-coloured tattoo saying 'LGBT' on their foreheads. And just because they bat for the other side doesn't automatically mean they're turncoats - as proven by that Lieutenant-Colonel in the USAF, they're just as combat-capable as anyone else. It doesn't make them less able to fight, or less likely to take a bullet for anyone else in the squad (Don't think of the innuendos inherent in this conversation...). It also doesn't automatically mean they're going to go bum-raping everyone else in the squad. Just because they're gay doesn't automatically mean they're interested in you.

"Don't ask don't tell" - well I'm sure most of them probably fucking wouldn't tell anyway because it'll leave them open to pillock. I wouldn't tell on that reason alone if I was that way inclined. But whom one chooses to invite to their bedroom - and whether one utters it to anyone or not - should not preclude them from service. Are the blood, hard graft, cameraderie and soldiering of gay people not worth as much as those of everyone else?

Point proven. Though to be honest all of ancient Greece was built on heavy- to industrial-strength homosexuality. It was only a couple thousand years later that the Romans brought them some women... :)

Indeed. The oft pervading ideal was for women to be walking incubators to the glory of men. They built some quite revolutionary societies out of it all, though.

Come to Barnsley, Ambershee. Most of our menfolk pull not through the commonly-accepted method (getting pissed off their face, attempting to dance and then latching tongue-first onto the nearest equally-drunken female attempting the same retarded trick...although most Barnsleyites are quite happy to do the getting pissed and dancing bit), but by grabbing a club, hitting the female over the head with it and then dragging her back to the house with him.

+1 Speech Craft for abusing woman using your words, Shee.

This has been news for years here in the Unites Straights of America. Har. But really... most men don't want some hormone infested homosexual rookie hitting on them in the middle of aquatic CQC training. Same reason why we don't usually let men and woman intermingle in training and on field. I want my soldiers killing, not breeding. They may now have cross-gender camps... hope not... I remember when we were allowed to slap woman in combat without being called 'sexual predators'.

I'm pretty sure those that group themselves as homosexuals are rational human beings that knows a life-and-death situation when they see it, and have had some decent upbringing that have given them a personality that most people can get along with. The generic gay stereotype screams pre-teen immaturity to me, and I'd suspect that anyone with a mental maturity of 12 isn't going to be popular or getting far no matter their sexual preferences. Especially in the military but overall in most trades.

I once asked a gay friend of mine "Do you ever think about having sex with me because you're gay?" to which he replied "Do you ever think about having sex with Ann Widdecombe because you're straight?" Shut me up.

The point here is that, just because gay guys are attracted to men, doesn't mean they're liable to drop everything, including their pants, in the middle of a warzone. I think 'pre-teen immaturity' sums it up quite nicely. Grow up, America.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

It's a weird way of ego-stroking, the idea some straight men have about gay men wanting to fuck them at all costs.

Now, did that Lieutenant-Colonel look to you to be a 'hormone-infested homosexual rookie'? Did the fact he was homosexual make him less competent at doing his job? No, of course it didn't. If it did he'd have never got above Airman. Or, for that matter, graduated from basic training.

Most bad places have signs that say BEWARE OF THE DOG. The M1, as it passes from Nottinghamshire to South Yorkshire, says BEWARE OF THE TROLLS.

Sounds to me like someone's bitter because England lost the war. ;)
I'm just kidding, the US and the UK will always have a special alliance. (I hope)

...Seriously though, something does need to change. I see homosexuality as a mental disorder. And like anyone with a mental disorder, we should be tolerant and accepting. Of course, you wouldn't let a mentally incapable person join the military, but I'm sure you get my point.

You sir, are a cunt. Not only that, you are a cunt with a mental disorder. Therefore, I wouldn't let you in the military.
Good day, sir.

I can't believe that in this civilised day and age we are even having this discussion. It's disgusting - how can such bigoted, ignorant and insecure people still exist? Why do we even tolerate this? The reason why I'm turning away from democracy is that people cannot be trusted to think rationally, act sensibly and treat everyone as they should naturally be treated - AS EQUALS. Why hasn't everyone cottoned onto the idea that these prejudices are simply the products of insular, insecure and insignificant minds?

PS Warn me for profanity, and I warn back for tolerating libel of the ignorant kind.

Indeed. I mean, why shouldn't we be tolerant of paranoid schizophrenic sociopaths instead of locking them away in mental institutions?

Jesus Christ. Ignoring your obviously false take on the nature of homosexuality, that statement is still rediculous.

No kidding. I recently spend a few days in Stockholm.

Walk into a McDonalds, and you'll see ten women who put British 'models' to shame, haha.
