Something I've noticed with posting Revora links on Facebook and possibly other sites is the thumbnail is of IP Boards.

I've noticed that too and found it horribly annoying. It seems to be an inherent limitation in this version of IP.Board though, so there's little we can do about it. I'm not even sure if an upgrade to 3.2.x will help in this respect.

I guess I could always post from my website I'm guessing it must use the header image or something.

I get the same problem on CNCNZ.com. I've noticed this since upgrading to IPBoard 3.2.x from an older 2.x install. When you share a link on Facebook it seems to only pick up what's called the "Meta Image", rather than any images in the body of the post.
I would rather it not use that image, so I thought removing that part from the template would help, didn't make a difference. So I simply customised the meta image to something more CNCNZ.com style rather than the standard IPB image.
