Just got a bit of an package in the mail. Had originally planned to bring it home for the holidays, but it seemed so big that I thought I might as well install it at mah office.

This Cintiq24hd is my "business Christmas gift" to myself. Business has been acceptable so I had a bit of a surplus I felt i safely could spend on things like this. Now we only need to find good reasons to use this madness.

Pasi: the license plate is on the door itself, so that won't help :p though if you have half a brain and internet-skills that should be plentiful to find this place.

Did a quick sculpt in mudbox with this thing, then spent another day trying to get a good render on it. Still not where I want it to be, but its getting there.

And yeah, its expensive, but it won't lose value very quickly. Right now I wonder how good it really will be at drawing stuff in photoshop since I find the resolution a bit too coarse for my drawing-movements, but training might fix that.

I think it does loose more value depending on the market you're eye'ing. That might actually be something I would E-Bay.

Yeah, maya paint-effects grass with some tweak and mia-shader, going to add some transparency to them next round I render it out. All in all I'm useless at adding hair in maya on something, need more training on that :p Shave'n'Haircut plugin next time.

Costs like $3000, so It probably wouldn't have been my first buy if I didn't live where I live. Hell, I probably could have managed if i bought a intuos a4, but eh, it was Christmas and I thought it was a good gift for myself.

God-damned shave and a haircut plugin, made my monday that much blacker(demo 32-bit 2011 version didn't render in mental-ray, for no apparent reason since it only should be 3-4 simple steps to get it to render). Gave up on it in the end, found a different shader for the existing one and trimmed off a few hairs. Re-rendered this evening after a buggy tuesday evening render(messed up the render settings, used 20 minutes before, 3 minutes after).

Anyway, link to new render. more dramatic angle and more fancy SSS I believe.
