Oh my... the plot thickens and now the chocolate skin on top is burnt. That's like the cruddiest reason to give money to a charity... because they had too. I now might just have little to no respect for Mass Effect fans now.

Don't we all... Don't we all. :whathuh:

Then again, if people aren't aware of what they are putting their money into they might as well suck it up and leave the money there, especially if its for children. But I guess it is just as well to stop taking in the money in for some semi-political reason, and just focus on what the charity is really about.

I had no respect for most of them anyway. This latest debacle is why I don't join gaming communities. Too many whining smacktards.

I was surprised the company actually decided to change the ending based on users opinion. Users...who are they?!

At least this may open the eyes of game developers so they'll actually realize gamers actually do care about story. Erm... can I go even further and say I hope this makes movie makers realize story is important as well? Heh-heh... because... most of them suck now...

Finally, Pasidon. Something we agree on.

Isn't this more of an incentive for the opposite.
Mass Effect botched then ending and they've received huge attention even outside it's own scene.
More attention is free advertising even if it's negative.
That being said I couldn't give a shit about Mass Effect, Call of Duty or any of those games.

Mass Effect and Call of Duty don't belong in the same category. At all.

Yea, it's one thing to ignore a series because they cleverly gained attention in an irritating way, but mashing up games in general with guns in the same genre seems a bit stingy. All these games are about is shooting without context! Oh, bitter humanity!

Also, this was just announced:

http://blog.bioware....3-extended-cut/

So we won't be paying for it, but there were still negative repercussions for the fan in all this while more benefits for the franchise continue to appear.

It sounds like a cheap compromise, literally more of the same.
They seem to be trying to send the message that they'll listen but it's their call and they stand behind their choices.
Which I respect they aren't wholly kowtowing to the user base.

Well here's an update. Bioware decided for both of their new DLC packs to be free: the Multiplayer expansion and the ending add-on. EA was trying to push for them to make money off these things, but Bioware made a very good move by soothing the crisis EA put them in. It's two free DLC packs... can't complain with that. I suppose I can find a tone of respect returning to Bioware for me now.

People will still complain about freebies. Don't overestimate the integrity of self-entitled gamers. Did I say integrity? Yeah, I meant they don't have any.

Yea, this isn't the last time we've seen fan movements inspired by the possibilities of personal gain. You may see a similar movement in the field of combat optional debates... where many fans of games want an option to skip combat just as one would skip story.

Article? That's a novel. There is strength in summarizing your opinions in fewer words. He makes good points in the few parts I cared to read, but about time someone else who doesn't criticize the ending just because they can.

I read that article, but I still can't let go of the fact that people who whine that much about video games are acting stupid. No one forced anyone to buy the game so it's sort of a toss up really. People have every right to complain, but to demand a new ending for a video game seems rather silly to me. I guess that's why I'm picky with game purchases. Glad I didn't play Mass Effect anything because fuck this bullshit. Jesus.

Yay... update. I have not yet got the ME3 extended cut (which came out this week by the way), but I have some intel on what people think. You know... I scoured through the ME3 fanbase and 90% of what I saw was disgraceful. Most people who posted admitted that they weren't going to get it. ... SO these people demand a better ending, and when they get it... they refuse to play it to prove a point. No, that is unacceptable community behavior. A few idiots doing it is reasonable, but it's a whole fanbase. Here's the next deep thought question... do fans have a valid stance on refusing content they requested? This sounds like a one sides question... and logic should say that these people should be grateful and give Bioware another shot. But a lot of people are refusing this redo since they say you only get one shot at doing an ending. Am I missing something?
