I was once told, that the disk is worth jack shit, it's the code you get with the game that counts.
Is it true?

To an extent. The code is what makes your game a legal copy. However, without a disk you cannot play the game even if it is installed legally, so you would have to use a no-cd crack, which can run into issues with some mods, and make it impossible to play online with someone, unless they had the EXACT SAME crack.

Nope, exact same crack does not work :xd: Using a no cd crack, at least for ROTWK and BFME 2 generates a random version number each time you start the game, thus rendering the chance of you being able to play with a friend nearly impossible. So yea there is no multiplayer for you if you use a crack.

Or you could just use a mini image.

It possibly happens to be illegal to get something for free, but if you do, make sure you donate to a charity or something. At least it will make you feel good inside.

P.S. what I mean is that if you cannot pay the makers, by that I mean EA who paid for the developers to make the game.

Google it... Use the correct terms, more I'm not going to say, since this community does not support these kind of things, although most of us have made a slight exception here :xd:

Mini images are handy, no longer do I have to dig through the mess to find discs that are too scratched to work.
At the moment I don't even have to worry about mounting the image since BFME is now permanently ready.

Hmm, so anyone having any idea what does that reseller mean by that 4-CD set fixing issues with newer systems? Or that notice about wide-screen (I don't even remember if I play on old 4:3 display or newer...).

Regarding mini-image: quite handy thing, I was using it for Warcraft 3. Any chance someone will point to safe download place? I am able to Google quite a lot possible sources but they all seems far from trustworthy :whathuh:

www.gamecopyworld.com
I've used them for years. And, as they specify at the entering stage, they are all against illegal stuff.

I have BFME and BFME2 installed on Windows 7 (64bit). I have no problems with the games, but after they are installed I do have to change the Compability mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
After that is done, all works fine! And that's done in an instant :)
Regarding wide-screen; All the resolutions are in 4:3, but they work on a 16:9 or 16:10 too, but at a less optimal viewing experience. However, if you're focused on playing, you won't notice.

Thanks fot a tip lot Lauri.

No special procedures? Hmm, wonder what that seller actually puts on those 4-CD set..

Btw: you have more then 3GB ram? I remember SW EaW requires some kind of ram fix for playing on PC with more then 3GB of ram.

I have been looking on widescreen forums and it seems to be exactly as you say. Game will distortion slightly to fit wide screen resolutions. Guess I will get used to.
