I can play GTA IV with enhancers on it's highest settings and LA Noire on it's highest settings as well.

I guess about an 8.5-ish, but only because the GPU chipset is from the previous generation. It's by no means bad but it's easily outdone by the GTX670/680 and Radeon HD7950/7970.

Mine rates about the same because I have a higher end processor and more RAM to play with. Just my GPU sets me back. Still plays everything I throw at it on high though.

I just seen Alienware upgraded their specifications (I brought mine in April). The xr3 is shortly to be replaced by xr4.

i think design is amazing, although the shadow here isn't great.

It's not so much the design as it is the fact that Alienwares generally aren't worth the money.

I agree Alienware:

A: Costs to much
B: Badly Designed
C: Generally Break
D: Alienware have bad support lines

A because i could make the exact same alienware computer with same specs for at least 1000 dollars less.

B because they boot up slow and over heat easily.

C because they break from the over heating and fry the hard drive.

D because once they break and you call Alienware/dell they put you on hold for hours on end.


I know someone that works for Dell/Alienware Division and they agree that they could be made better..

A: It's exclusive, poor people aren't suppose to buy them, same with Ralph Lauren, Ferrari and Buggati, these designers at the top of their "forte" can dictate how the prices will be and still get buyers.

B: Mine is designed wonderfully, as was my previous, never overheated (had it on for 17 hrs one day), but the fan is loud and the laptop gets hot, I'll give you that.

C: Mine hasn't overheated yet, and both of them have been the very best I've ever used (Sony Vaio, Toshiba, HP, Packard Bell, countless Dells).

D: When I broke my Alienware disc drive on my old one, they collected it the next day and in 2 working days had it back to me fixed.

But yes, It would be nice if they were less loud.

Exclusivity is bullshit. You go right ahead and pay outlandish prices for something that can easily be achieved for far less. I don't see the point in literally throwing money away but that's your decision not mine. If I'm going to invest that much into a PC, it's going to be a desktop tower where I can do whatever the hell I want and have more power at the same time.

You probably got lucky when they fixed yours in 2 days. My friend (who is a reliable source) had a screen break and it took them almost a month to fix it. Partly because tthe support lines kept putting him on hold. He was on hold for 2 days straight.. If you cant replace a DVD drive then how do you know it was well designed.

No, I still don't think you'd see a lot of people with Alienwares even on here. No one really wants to piss money away on a brand name because that's all you're really getting. I don't care if it's exclusive. My PC is nice and I built it myself and I plan to do the same with my next laptop. I don't get the point in spending that much on a laptop when there's cheaper, more reliable models out there. ehh, not my money. If you're good with wasting it, have at it.
