That and he's Mormon. It hasn't even been much of a topic in the election campaign so far, surprisingly. I'm just not sure what I'm to think of an intelligent, educated man believing in stuff like that. Then again, who knows if he actually believes it or if it's yet another façade.

Har! Prejudice barbarian! But yea... just stating that he's mormon is enough to discredit everything. And the fact that he hid that detail for quite some time is sort of greifing since he can't even stand by his own beliefs with some conviction. I said the same about Obama a long while back... he hid a lot of his African heritage (har) and only started talking about it when people started calling him out on it in suspicion, and rightfully so since they can't even get his birth certificate in order. But it's not the fact these people are terrible at religion or not American in any way, it's that they suck at scaled politics. They're great 21st century politicians, and that is NOT a title you want to have. No ma'am.That and he's Mormon.

Beyond that, Mormonism yeah. Richard dawkins gave the smackdown to a vocalist from the band The Killers on a scandinavian talk-show. Can be seen here. The beginning has the interview with the guy talking a bit about his faith, and then we get some pretty straightforward speech from Dawkins that makes this guy look like he's about to explode. Alas, he got chased off before anything could come off it, but its clear he didn't like the message.

But yeah, mormonism is crazy, but I liked the south-park episode about it, as it brought a bit of a grey-zone to it.
Anyway, Samuel L. Jackson have something to say, and I dare say its less brain-damaging than Chuck... But only just

I suspect this election should go Obama's way, but with all the money going around you can't say for sure. It doesn't help that a two-party system makes for very polarized politics that fights for the few percentages around 50.

I like the argument that even if he wasn't born in 'Merica , his mother is American and he would be a legal citizen anyway, meaning it would do jack-shit to stop him from becoming a president.
In fact it would. Un-like all other public offices, where just being a citizen is enough. To hold the office of the president you need to be born in the U.S.
A great example is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Even though he was Austrian born, he was able to become Governor of California. A state that boasts an economy that falls within the top 10 in the world. However he could never be president.

On the topic of the last debate, it seems that Obama won that one too, but that it really doesn't matter right now. It seems that this time it is only the president who loses points if you loses a presidential debate. At least we got some funny quips about battleships, horses and bayonets not being in the military anymore.
I just hope now that the voters get out there and vote for someone else than this used-car salesman. Kerry lost on flip-flopping so I don't see why this should be any different; Mitt turns his coat after the crowd so fast I'm surprised repubs still back him. I guess the party is more important than the policies, which he seems to only have two of: less taxes for the rich and less care for those that need it. As Clinton mentioned "you didn't clean up the mess we made fast enough, so let us back in".
Oh well, lets hope things clear up in the next two weeks. I'm not going to be a happy camper with another Bush figure running the world police.

Thanks for asking, Pas. I know it'll be a day of victory for that blubbering baboon, Obama. Nothing has been more obvious. Regardless of him proving to be incompetent, just as I predicted 4 years ago, people's ignorance has still yet to be cured. As a Colonial Republican, I'm still obligated to root for the man that lets me keep my guns, regardless of him being a cowardly Mormon.

If the American system was open to letting losing parties send their vote over to whomever they felt was closest to their ideals. You'd be able to vote for your favorite party and if they failed to win, at least your vote didn't give your most hated opponent a bigger chance at winning.
On the topic of libertarianism, I'm pretty sure most of the republican right wingers are very close to that economically... But socially they want government to stop you from getting married to whomever you want and abortions and science and all that stuff, which I suspect libertarians should ideologically be all for. But libertarians in America doesn't seem to steal only from repubs/democrats so it shouldn't be the end of the world. It also depends a lot on how close the race is in your state, which there's a 4/5th chance its a no-brainer.
