So, final countdown, voting day. statistics point to a 92% chance of Obama winning, what is your opinion about what has been, what will happen, and worst-case scenario?

Worst-Case Scenario: Mitt Romney wins, Netahanyu convinces him to help attack Iran, the world blows up because the UN is tired of backing America's stupid military moves. Before that happens Romney tries to return the U.S. of A. to the 1950's ideal and fails miserably because the average citizen is so out of touch with what he proposes.
Most-Likely Scenario: Barack Obama wins in a landslide, America proves itself to be an actual democracy of freedom with low-level drugs like marijuana being legalized and legitimately economized (helping us climb out of the recession faster than we otherwise would) and same-sex marriage being recognized as legitimate during his second term (he doesn't pass national legislation on it but does give his blessing to the states that make it so), but Netahanyu continues his war-mongering with limited U.S. support. Nothing comes of it.
Best-Case Scenario: I have no clue. I don't think that President Obama nor Governor Romney are the long-term answer and there's too many uninformed bigots on both of the major sides to allow any fringe parties to have great success. Hopefully the Libertarians get the 5% needed and establish themselves well until the next Presidential election when they can make a legitimate push for office.

Even if they make it, I doubt they'll have any chance for president for years to come. Third parties need to build power in states first, then congress, before they can even think of making a serious bid for president.

Agreed. But it's better than nothing, and I'll take it.

Also FOX News' coverage of the results are infuriating. They aren't even hiding their bias towards the Republicans and are doing all they can to get people upset and confused with their buzzwords - apparently any voting difference of less than 15,000 is "too close to call" by their reckoning.

The amount of hatred and bias between the two parties is so outrageously strong, one should know ignorance is strong in these people's monkey brains. Ask a typical Democrat what Republicans do wrong, and they won't be able to name a single real issue. Same with the vised versa as well. It's apparently Mitt didn't win... he couldn't even take his own home state. Dreadful... just dreadful.

And... Obama wins. 4 more years of darkness. Thank Alah I'm going to England for the Spring, just in time to ignore America's problems just so I can complain about England's. I knew he was going to win, but what ticks me off is the amount of cheer is being received from this. He didn't bring any new or innovative authority to politics in his previous 4 years, and his approval rating was lower than sin through a good deal of his term. Change, indeed.

Not sure why I'm complaining... I knew more than the 50% of voters were idiots, being supported by a deaf crux of shameless incompetence. Even very good rural friends of mine cheer and pat themselves for Obama's festering abortion of a victory, ripped from the gaping wounds of women voters in Ohio. And the pit of you menacing Europeans who yell in Obama's favor like baboons when he supports a European system while you yourselfs can't stop blubbering and rebelling against the very system you hug in Obama's arms like a bludgeoned mother cuddling her dead, strangulated child. SAKE... George Washington's ears must be bleeding from the grave from all this nonsense. OH, go on and support the average American voter, but remember, these are the same people who elected Arnold Schwarzenegger as a respectable member of the American political party.

Get over yourself, Pas, it's not the end of the world. I'm very optimistic about the future even if my candidate didn't get the win (or close to what I wanted). Puerto Rico is on the cusp of statehood and marijuana is almost legalized in two states. An openly gay Senator has been elected and multiple filibustering zealots defeated. I'm chalking this all up as a win.

Obama won because Repubs didn't have anything to run on but regressive 1950s fairy-tale politics while the Dems went for progress and looking at the direction aMerica is heading.

But yeah, don't expect a revolution for the progressive ideology just yet. The next president who I'm guessing will be democrat and have two terms, will see more pronounced change. Obama might get more done the last two years if the kids get out to vote for the mid-term elections. But beyond that his reign will be remembered as that of a democratic black man chained up by angry white men holding him back.

Anyway, Obama's re-election won't make many waves, but the alternative would have been a disaster. Primarily because The next president is lucky, as the economic recovery is now on its way. If Romney got the presidency, he would have surfed on the unpopular(but economically correct) work of Obama and taken all the credit, and most likely brought on a new age of republicanism and reactive ideologies for the next 20 years(causing more economic/diplomatic havoc and a pathetic but dramatic fall of the American empire). Now Obama gets to lie in the bed he made, and if things work out, we will see 10-20 years of Democratic hegemony until the Republicans reinvent themselves.

The republican George W Bush era was one of the most amazing eras for the economy, isn't it? Specially at the end (2008)...

Yeah, imo you can put the blame at least on every republican since Reagan, for the economic mire America and the west is in right now. We had the same economic chaos a century ago, but the rich always came out ahead and lobbied to maintain the system that have allowed them to get so much of the good and so little of the bad.

I'm still in awe of how historic this has been. Not just for Obama (or Obongo as my family likes to call him) getting reelected, but all of the progressive things that happened along with it. Two states have legalized recreational use of marijuana (Washington and Colorado) and a third narrowly failed to pass it (Oregon) and three states legalized same-sex marriage. More importantly, Puerto Ricans voted by an estimated 57-64% to apply for statehood pending Congressional judgement (both Houses will need to pass it by at least 51%), all-but ensuring that it'll become the 51st State. In that same vein, three of the more religiously zealous conservative Senators were defeated by their Democratic counterparts, one of which is the first openly gay Senator in United States history. Even if the Libertarians failed to get the 5% of popular vote (coming away with only 1%), I'll take the results of this voting season and be happy with it.

A president fully in his first term rarely never gets the re-election. Historic? No, not at all. America re-elected George Bush just the same, and here we continue to hear his name devalued for poor reasons. Last I checked, being able to summon a hurricane makes you a god, not a degenerate. Obama should not be any different. I was actually called racist for going against a pro-Obama forum the other day, and it was one of the few times I never even mentioned race in a debate about him. I really can't tolerate this pro-Obama nonsense any longer... people shouting "4 more years!" have about enough sense as Catalina Swartza standing on her castle walls, grabbing her crotch and shouting "10 more sons!".

... and marijuana is almost legalized in two states. An openly gay Senator has been elected and multiple filibustering zealots defeated. I'm chalking this all up as a win.

Is this it? This is all that matters now? Sex and drugs? And people ponder why I support terrorism...

Holy strawman, Batman, you aren't comprehending what I'm saying. You're just boiling it down to its most simplistic form and turning your nose up at it. Stop tripping over your ego dude.

And thanks, Mathijs.

I'm going to agree with that mike. I'm happy with the general rejection of far-right rhetoric and expansion of more progressive policies.

Well have your gay drug parties... Everything I predicted about Obama came true in his last attempt to annoy me to death, and it's not like he took a lesson in ethics or economics recently. Just like all the presidents you elected in the past 20 years, your regret will fill my rotten brain sacs joyously with another 4 years of cultural decay. So stop being so joyous for no reason already and feed me with misery... a black guy and a gay dude gets elected and all of a'sudden the skies crack. Sake.

Holy strawman, Batman, you aren't comprehending what I'm saying.

Correction: I ignored what you said.
