ArmA Developers accused of Espionage

So gaming and international spy games finally comes as one as ArmA developers are now in Greek custody under the accusation of military espionage. So what did they do exactly? They were doing research for their new game, ArmA 3, and they took loads of pictures. And a few of those pictures had images of military instillations. And it's not looking good... they have a very good chance of being sentenced to a Greek prison for quite some time.

Well... the issue here is if the Greeks are nuts for this, or justified. But like TB says in the video above, the Greek government is taking the situation way out of context by saying they had night vision goggles and orders from the Turkish government. It's kind of hard not to call these Greek dip-tards crazy.

That is actually pretty hilarious.

And to even more hilarity, the Czech Republic president actually spoke out in defense for these guys. Apparently Greece has done the same espionage charges for Czech citizens. Talk about good publicity for your game, sheesh...

Don't mess with antiquated spy-games bureaucracies which need excuses to keep getting funding, thats the moral of this story.

It's sad when Greece is obsessed with keeping their military secret when you can go online and find images and info of their military installations quite easily. The Greek military is like the Mohamed of the modern warring states,

Isn't this old news? Whatever happened to these guys anyway? Did they get thrown in prison or what?

Well they've been in prison for about 2 months now, but they really haven't had a trial yet. But the sentence is still pending, but it does seem like these guys are getting many'ah year n Greek irons. It's just now getting attention, for some reason.

I recall seeing the news that they were arrested. its been around 70 days without a proper charge. I'm guessing this is just as much a embarrasment for the greek administration as it is for us. Its a no-win situation, if they let them go they piss off the nationalists and embarrass the military bureaucracy, provoking a discussion about how relevant cold-war espionage laws are in today's internet-connected world. If they leave them there they provoke the younger generations of the world with their dinosaur perspectives on the modern world, cause a diplomatic mess not only with Czechians but with the western world.
