perhaps, but I do like destructive physics and resetting of character levels and skill. Also, skyping in battlefield is quite fun.

Talking to people via computers is fun in general.

I still stand by that despite its flaws and unnecessary complexity, Battlefield provides for more unregulated fun then I've been able to find in other FPS' games of late. Since you don't even have to play the game to have fun. You can troll the living fuck out of anyone in the most bizarre ways. What other games can you chase some poor soul around (on the ground) in an F-35 because he's out of ammo and you're in a jet that can take off vertically. :p

I'd say that sounds pretty sweet for trolling. =p

I prefer tolling people by blocking important land bridges with Galaxies in Planetside 2, but that works as well.

The games industry is not Hollywood and never will be. Gaming is an interactive experience; movies are passive experiences. While we do see cinematics in gaming, they have their reasons for use. It's slightly unfair to claim that gaming is Hollywood because the technology has improved by leaps and bounds over the last ten years.

I'm not talking about cinematics in games although that does seem to be an increasing thing, I mean that gaming is more Hollywood than Hollywood in the way it works.

Games have enormous budgets and enormous profits in some cases the game industry has been outselling the movie industry for at least the last 10 years.

The game industry was once a place of creativity and innovation but we aren't seeing that any more with most companies now dead or gobbled up by the big names.

Locally almost all the independent studios have changed from PC and sometimes console games to the safer mobile game market and the big studios closed down all the studios Pandemic being one of them.

With these huge budgets come huge risks the industry as a whole has become the same as Hollywood they play it very safe and predictable.

Only sequels and blockbusters will do.

Genres are dying out RTS, Fighting Games even driving games they are being replaced by easier to make, easier to sell games like COD and the many many action-adventure type games.

Consumers are inundated by these games and the people who used to buy the other genres move onto the simpler shooters.

Time was that there was skill needed in gaming and time but the rate these games are being made and being played through (seems to be most games are played out in under 2 weeks by even the most casual of players) other genres like those mentioned suffer because skill and time is needed to play them.

Production costs continue to rise and indie developers have to try and keep pace with limited resources and dwindling audiences in some cases it's not a good sign for the future of the industry.

This is just the biased ramblings of a Fighting game player who's now the last player of a once healthy community.

+1 for Radspakr. Totally and heavily agreeing with that.

I would be also a fighting gamer if my PS2 wouldn't bite the dust.
