Figured this was better as its own thread than a shoutcast sigh. Then we can share stories of tragic animal deaths we've witnessed or executed.

Had a bad day, killed a roe deer baby while driving the tractor, harvesting some grass on a small field.

Feel shit about it, though unless you see them hiding in the grass or the mother running away, there's not much to do. At least it didn't go into the harvester and the wheels got it quickly enough. By the time I came back the second time I start seeing something brown in my grassy tracks and started to suspect what had happened. By the time you see the white spots on the fur you're just sighing in frustration.

Spoiler

It was dead by the time I got to it, so I lifted it up and threw it into the nearby river to wash it out to sea. Somewhat viking-like.

Spoiler

It doesn't help that they are cute as fuck in that age. They are a little bigger than cats.

That sucks, man. Last month, I had to say goodbye to our family dog who was with us for 15 years. Very difficult thing to do.

Niiice.  Baby deer are a nice meal.  Their heads are way easier to snap off, and their spines are malleable enough to slide out of their sirloin sections with a bit of ease. But you may have gotten lucky... My cousin accidentally stepped on a baby deer a few weeks ago (it lived, but made a 'orrible sound), whilst we were disk golfing, and the moma wasn't happy.  Doe can be very violent.

I guess I have a recent animal butchery story.  I had a tom cat on my land who was killing my rabbits, so I took my Marlin Papoose and took care of it.  I shot it in the right rotatory cuff, it didn't kill it, and it was trying to crawl away.  Well... I didn't want to waste another bullet, so I just took a log and smashed its head in.  I didn't have a Viking burial in mind, so I just chucked the stupid thing over my fence.  The farmers can do the rest of the work for me.  Enjoy your corn later this year, world.

I was mowing the lawn and I ran over a hibernating hedgehog. I was distraught, but looking back it's actually hilarious.

I was trying to mow the verges and the mower choked on something and I see something brown shoot out of the side of it. I panicked a little when the mower stopped because I thought I'd run over a rock and broken it, then I turn around and see this hedgehog with its intestines and blood hanging out of three gashes like Wolverine's taken his temper out on it. I then proceeded to have a little breakdown, and felt awful.

A running mower over animals is so brutal.  I knew a guy who buried his cat from the neck down, and ran a lawn mower over the exposed head. Good lord... visceral.  I've seen videos of grown people getting their heads cut off with a chain saw, and it wasn't as gory as that awful lawn mower execution.

Such things usually are 99% correlative to prison time later on I'd wager. Anyone who treats animals like that are either stupid beyond repair or just not programmed to live in modern society.

Not too surprised Pasidon has a lot of experience butchering animals. I don't really have the stomach to kill a fish if I can avoid it. I don't mind observing a deer being butchered and the likes, but the death isn't for me. Helped a friend shoot a deer one moonlit night once, he hit it more in the lungs than the heart, so it was still trying to breathe when we got over to it. A very wet sound in that breathing. He just stuck it with a knife to get it over with, but I was sort of annoyed he didn't hit it in the heart.

Torturing animals at a young age is a decent indicator of psychopathy.

I'm like you, Duke, but worse. I can barely bring myself to squash an annoying bug.

Depends on the potential for viscera in the bug really. Flies and small spiders and the likes go easy enough. once they go up to beetles around one inch long I rather let them be on their way :p

Hmm... not a great trait to have... being squeamish, that is.  Maybe gore is a reflection of your own mortality.  Not sure if that's a mental defect, or not.  Certainly the ancient hunters wouldn't have shared your distaste for the morbid.

Guessing it's more of a "petite le mort" that I'd rather avoid if I can.

Sure, survival is survival and I'm no vegetarian, but sometimes you don't want every weight of the world on your shoulders. Why experience something and try to become jaded to it, if you don't have to?

I doubt it's that. I've had stitches.

I have the same problem.

One time I saw a neighbor's Rottweiler having it's way with 2 lost rabbits. Wasn't pretty at all.

I once saw a lady's head get crushed under the wheels of a truck.

When can I collect my prize?

I saw a decapacitated motorcyclyst his head, in the helmet.

Do I also get a trophy or something?
