I've downloaded the "53 Map-Pack" from the bfme2 heavengames website and tried to play online with friends by using these maps.
Actually the transfer doesn't work when I want to start the game.
I've also tried to put the maps in the bfme2 folder in my friends pc's (btw I know how to use downloaded custom maps) but still it doesn't work :(
Do you guys know how to fix that little problem?
Bfme 2 map transfer doesn't work, why? PLS HELP :(

"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

Yes, both can start manually the installed custom maps in offline mode, actually both computers work fine with these maps in offline mode.

Well, for example when my brother is the host and takes "Minas Tirith Extended Edition",
then the message comes like: "the map will be transfered while starting the game", well alright but I already have the map ?
Then when my brother starts the game it says: "Preparing for transfering... progressing 100%" but there is no start and finally it says "unable to transfer map"...
So right of my online name its written 100% progress but on my brothers(or hosts) name its always 0% till the error message...

Hi,
You usually receive that error when one party has a slightly modified version of the map (different map height for example). Therefore the host will transfer its own version to the joining players. This is not the case if the map is "officially" included in the patch you are playing.
Now as to why the transfer fails, try closing the 2nd slot when you host a game and your friend joining in the 3rd slot.

Alright, so as I tried as you said I was the host(raptor) and my brother(lechiffre) joined the 3rd slot.
Then after starting game this error message came on my screen:
Raptor ... Preparing for Map ...
LeChiffre ... MISSING:'FileTransfer::Status1'
And on my brother's screen:
Raptor... Preparing for Map ...
LeChiffre ... Finished
So this kind of error was new now, never saw it before.
In the End this message box came: Erorr, Transmission of the map not possible. Game can't start.

This may be due to some firewall blocking file transfer, but really if both of you have the same exact copy of the map then this shouldn't happen.

Hi there, this may be two years too late but I wanted to let you know that I have been having the exact same issue as you have been having and yesterday after more than 4 years of game crashes and frustration I finally figured out the problem.
The game is for some reason not able to locate the maps in your roaming folder when they`re in a folder in another folder. When you downloaded the map pack, I`ll bet all your maps are in separate folders inside of the downloaded map pack folder. So if you simply move all the separate map folders from your map pack folder and directly into the "Maps" folder in the "My The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king Files" or "My Battle for Middle-earth II Files", depending on which version of the game you're running, the map transfer will finally work! My friend and I both did this with similar maps and a map transfer wasn`t even necessary, as it should be when both parties have the same map. Simply put, you`re deleting the downloaded map pack folder and moving its contents directly into the" Maps" folder in your roaming folder. It really is a silly little thing.
I hope this makes sense and that you or anyone else that has been experiencing the same problem from now on will be able to play custom maps with friends on this awesome game!
