What's your take on this?

I think Apple will prevail eventually since the FBI is making the foolish act of the century, forcing Apple to create a backdoor tool to temporarily unlock one encrypted iPhone which could compromise security and privacy to every Apple smartphone (and the other branded smartphones) in the world. If such a tool is created, anyone can make a clone or alternative of it. If anyone would ask the Chinese or any secret agency to unlock a terrorist's iPhone discreetly and covertly, the public shouldn't know about this.

But I can't believe Bill Gates and Donald Trump are supporting the FBI for this while almost everyone else is supporting Apple anyway.

It's not a surprise that Trump likes the idea.  He hates foreign terrorists like Father Christmas hates skim milk.  Trump even called for every American to boycott Apple until they crank up the dials on their ethics repulsor rays.

But I don't think there should be a debate here.  What exactly is a terrorist to The FBI?  Or even Apple, for that matter?  Someone who hates America?  Someone who wore a turban and might have a PHD in chemical engineering with a bachelors in weapons of mass destruction?  No.  It's a guy who associated with people that don't care for Uncle Sam & friends.  Unlock that phone, and you'll probably find phone calls to some insidious culprate who's code name is "mom."  And a secret encryption codex called "Candy Crush Saga."  The devil walks among us, people.

And unlocking other people's phones is fine and all... but that's what criminals do.  They unlock things without permission.

FBI can't be trusted with having access to every single Iphone in America now, can they?

Then again, the government are reptiles, this forums is controlled by the illuminati, Donald Trump is illuminati, they can fool u, bt not me.

Information is a precious thing, and both forcing people to open it or keeping it closed has consequences. In the end I suspect encryption will win the race. The alternative might be worse, as we will ultimately lose the internet as we can't keep our accounts safe.

It will be interesting to see how this develops, though. Not sure if we'll see any bigger consequences because of this event alone. This has been going on since long before Snowden and Assange got our attention.

I installed extra lights on the server to illuminati it. It's also why we use so much white in the graphics...

On a serious note, I don't know what side to go on, since both are rich corrupted corporations. Maybe the FBI isn't so corrupted as Apple, but still.

I'm not sure if Apple really qualifies as corrupt. Greedy and shady perhaps, but they're mostly just trying to rake money out of people by having them blindly follow sheep mentality. Not really through corrupt practices.

The only corrupt thing about Apple are those watches of theirs. Those things get scrambled 2 feet from a refrigerator magnet.

But Apple hasn't gone Watergate quite yet.  They have ridiculous prices for everything, but that's only because Steve Jobs was more businessman than engineer in the later years of his life.  The only reason they would have trouble turning over Agra-bah's latest nitroglycerin child is for business reasons, not because they're secretly selling "death to America" t-shirts.

The FBI has found a solution and bypassed the iPhone's passcode via a unnamed 3rd party source: http://www.usatoday....farook/82354040

The FBI, of all institutions in the world, already had access no doubt. I don't think this whole thing was a legitimate attempt at getting access, but rather a public power play. There are those who think Edward Snowden is a hero and uncovered a rather horrific abuse of power, incomprehendable in scale, and there are those that think it is justified and want more of it (particularly those in power). It makes the American government seem a lot less harmless if they can't seem to even crack into a fucking iPhone, when they still have the largest spy network in the globe catching every internet request you send and monitoring foreigning government's internal communication systems without their knowledge.

I'm sad we couldn't see this get smacked down by the Supreme Court. The FBI will come back with the same request in a few years, screaming yet more "terror" to get a favourable precedent.

I found a Gameboy Color that once sat on a bench next to a guy wearing a turban.  The FBI is obligated to give me 2 AA batteries so I can check it for "evidence."

So what do we all think of Apple vs Europe? The irony being the country standing to gain 13bn is actually angry that it's getting 13bn. WTAF.

It's about time all these parasitic companies started paying their way. There's something wrong about a company that makes billions worldwide pays less tax than I do.
