Yes it can, afaik.

And no, we're not allowed to share it in anyway.

This is obviously complicated. However since we all have modern computers nowadays cant we just skip this and get to a memory mod tool instead? Im sure it would be slower and less convenient but taking a snapshot of the memory and restoring it every now and then. Emulators for old console games do it as a means to save where it previously wasnt possible.

It works for emulators of old consoles, because memory of those was nothing compared to today's hard disks, but if you would have to save 350 MB or more for each savegame (mind the auto-save!), it won't be convenient to use.
Real savegames will be bigger than they were in vanilla YR, because Ares adds data and MO generally has much more objects on the maps than the original game had, but 6 MB is still a lot better than a full memory dump.

Just a quick update: the upcoming version of Ares will be version 1.0 with savegames being the one big main feature.
This means that savegames will finally work again in Ares. Testing didn't reveal any critical design flaw yet (and they would be immediately obvious because Ares would deliberately crash itself if something wasn't quite right).
Thus, I'm confident that it will be sorted out soon. But mind that this is Ares' side of things, and there's more work to do before it will be available to you.

That's not my turf, thus I can't possible announce anything there.

Yes! I can finally figure out alternative ways to pass specific parts of campaign missions without having to spend 2 hours trying to get to them first.

:D

So does it mean that this page will be outdated when save games come out?

It could be used for save/load related bug reports.

But would it make more sense to put those problems in the troubleshooting or bug thread

In the best case there are no bugs related to savegames, but I don't think that's realistic. :p Especially since releasing Ares in a mod inreases the number of "tests" being done quite extremely, from one coder to no-idea-how-many modders and their respective testers, to several thousands of people trying out that feature.

I hope there will be few bug reports, so they would fit into the existing bug report threads.

Save load works great i manually update and test it on mo right now :D
Can we pre define save names? or something like that?

Uuuh, I don't think it's safe to try it with old version of MO.

Save/Load is back thanks to AlexB in Mental Omega 3.3.3, which includes Ares 1.0. This topic has served its purpose.
