Círdan didn’t carry Narya during the War of the Ring. He gave it to Gandalf when he (Gandalf) arrived in ME. “AOTR: First Age” doesn’t make sense chronologicaly since they are thousands of year apart. Would be like calling a game “Napoelonic Wars: World War 2”.

Hi Banksia, Indeed!! Círdan gave it to Gandalf, an before that Gil Galad to Círdan.... Gil Galad => Círdan => Gandalf,

 

Therefore, the 3 were Ring´s Bearers [Narya, not the One], but, it wasn´t  my point, I talk about Círdan was important because he was very helpful in 1rd., 2nd, and 3r. Ages, always from Mithlond,

 

He was even with Elrond in Mount Doom when Isildur Failed!! [Elrond with Vilya, Círdan with Narya, Isildur the One], only them, no one else.

 

It was my point about the Círdan´s importance to be a Ring´sHero in the game, [offtopic, Smaug never was a Ring´sHero, but It is in the game]

 

 

About "AOTR: First Age Mod", just a joke mate, maybe someday The team AOTR made a Mod about first-Second Age,

just my personal desire, and GilGalad makes sense chronologicaly absolutely in this case.

I have an idea for Glorfindel's Rank 10 Power that i have been thinking about for past few days.

 

We all know his backstory.

His spirit passed to the halls of mandos after he killed a balrog with his sacrifice and by the will of valar he was sent back to middle earth for a greater course!

 

So my suggestion for his rank 10 power is completely inspired by the fact that he sacrificed himself to kill a balrog and he would do such thing again if he had to but of course i tried to make it as balance as i think it should be in game.

 

1-At Rank 10 : "Willing to Sacrifice"
 
[Deals a superior damage to an enemy hero -3000 health of an enemy hero but double effect against balrog- Though it achieves at the cost of 60% of his full health, he will die if he has lesser than 60% but still works which makes this power a really good power if he already has lost most of his own health ]
 
 
 

I Know everything is up to you guys and in this case specially Dúnedain but i believe the fact that he did sacrifice himself and he was surely willing to do it again is something to consider.

Hi guys,

 

Have you thought about renaming Rivendell's Aragorn to Strider/Estel, owing to the names he used in and around Eriador/Rivendell? Given the level of detail evident in the mod I'm guessing you have thought of it, but decided against it. In any case, I'd be interested in hearing you're reasoning. :)

I think the reason we stuck with Aragorn rather than Strider was because of how involved the Rivendell aspect of the faction is. In that context, he would more likely be known as Aragorn. As to Estel... well, a lot of people would think we made some sort of mistake, as they probably aren't too familiar with the name. :p

I have a tip for this faction...
 
I would like to see too much Gil-Galad, because he is a elve, if Gil-Galad had not died in Last Alliance, he had be leader of Rivendell after. I really love this elve, he's so cool. At least like a hero invoked by powers. Cirdan also will be ok.

HI! :)

I have an idea how to put Cirdan into it.

The Grey Pilgrim could be instead by Narya's Holders.

Once Gandalf appears, once Cirdan.

Their ability would be similar, so you do not have to change a lot.

Gandalf has been in many good factions so it would be varied.

 

Cirdan abilities:

Rank 1: The Great Sea Heals

Healing nearby friendly units.

Rank 1: Lord of Mithlond

Nearby archers gain +20% range and +15% accuracy

Rank 1: The Strength of Shipwright

Temporarily gains attack bonus.

Rank 1: Tempestuous Sea

Wind blast.

Rank 1: The Last Alliance Power

Nearby friendly units gain +15% speed and +20% armor.

 

I know Cirdan disappeared, but I'd love to see you once.

Hey, thanks for showing interest! 

 

Regarding Cirdan: the problem isn't so much finding a place for him, it's that Rivendell already has a lot of content: heroes, units, references, et cetera. It was getting too full, so we removed the Lindon/Grey Havens presence in favor of focusing more on Middle-earth's past (Hall of Fire), the region of Eriador, and Rivendell's own identity as a place of learning and base of operations for Middle-earth's heroes.

 

That's why Cirdan is gone. That's not to say he will never return, because we tend to go add new content to all of our factions with each new release. He just will definitely not be in Rivendell's first release.

Mine and Julio229's idea for Halbarad's banner:
 

The Banner of Arwen - Halbarad places the Banner in a target location. For the first 10 seconds after it is placed, allied units and heroes in a large radius gain increased damage and double experience while all enemy units and heroes have reduced damage, reduced fear resistance and halved experience gain.
After the first 10 seconds, allied units and heroes in a large radius gain double experience while enemy troops and heroes have reduced fear resistance and halved experience gain. 
After the banner is on the field for 60 seconds, it will disappear. The banner can be destroyed by the enemy in this time.

The idea is that it would be a big, short term buff, followed by a smaller long term buff that can be cut short by the enemy.

A few ideas for Rivendell's Heroic units.

Veterans of the Last Alliance:

Sword/Bow Toggle

Veterans of old wars - the Veterans have been in many wars during the ages of Middle Earth and can use the tactics learnt from those wars in the present. Only one ability can be used at a time. Nearby allied troops gain a small experience buff. Passive.
Siege of Imladris - The Veterans remember the times of Sauron's attack on the elven kingdoms of the North and they know how to hold their ground. The battalion is temporarily immune to knockback and fear, and gains a small amount of health with each strike (melee) or reduce the damage of their targets (will affect heroes) (ranged).
War of the Last Alliance - the Veterans were there during the Battle of Dagorlad and the final siege of Barad Dur where they fought alongside men and dwarves for the future of Middle Earth. Nearby Dunedain and Breelanders temporarily gain an armour increase while nearby Rivendell units gain a damage increase.
Fall of Angmar - the Veterans were with Glorfindel in the complete destruction of Angmar's armies and capital. Melee attacks are temporarily AoE and gain increased siege damage, while ranged attack speed is increased and will reduce the target's speed.
alt version -  Melee attacks are temporarily AoE  while ranged attack speed is increased.

Grey Company:
Spear/Bow Toggle
Silent Defenders - the Grey Company tirelessly and thanklessly defend the North from the orcs and wolves of the mountains. Aragorn, Halbarad and the Sons of Elrond passively gain bonus damage around them. When activated, nearby Eriador Encampments and units recruited from the Encampment (including Fatty Bolger and Farmer Maggot) gain bonus armour temporarily. At level 3, this ability will also make nearby Dunedain temporarily gain increased attack speed.
Grim Resolve - nearby enemies lose 10% armour and damage and have reduced fear resistance. The fewer units there are in a Grey Company battalion, the more armour and damage the remaining units gain. Passive.
Skilled Hunters - the Grey Company have experience hunting the fell creatures of the North. For 30 seconds, a target unit or hero is marked by the Company. The target shares vision with the player, loses speed and has a 33% chance to take more damage from each Grey Company and Dunedain attack.


We've left the level requirements open.

The Twins:

Rank 1: Gwenyn

When the Sons of Elrond are close, they gain +150% armour and +100% attack damage

 

Rank 1: Hatred of Orcs

The Sons of Elrond deal +33% extra damage to all orcs. Activate to reduce armour (Elladan)/speed (Elrohir) of nearby enemies

 

Rank 3: Bright Blade (Elladan)

A powerful sword strike that knocks over enemy units

Swift Strikes (Elrohir)

Elrohir temporarily gains +33% attack speed at the cost of -33% armour

 

Rank 5: Representatives of the Noldor

Activate to grant Elladan/Elrohir a random temporary effect based on an elven hero. Possible effects are as follows:

  • Elrond - nearby heroes gain double experience
  • Arwen - nearby heroes have extra armour
  • Glorfindel - nearby heroes deal more damage
  • Galadriel – nearby heroes have their abilities cool down faster

 

The main role of the Twins in the books was a representative of the Noldor and specifically of Elrond. There were moments when they had council straight from Elrond. That's where the last ability came from. We weren't really sure whether it should just represent the Imladris heroes or whether it should just be their family, which is why we included Galadriel as a possibility (she was their grandmother after all and she sent the message that the Grey Company were wanted in the South). It's up to the team though. 

 

We also had a change for Arwen's last ability.

Image of Luthien – Arwen receives a permanent armour boost and improved healing. Activate to extend this bonus to nearby heroes, but Arwen is slightly weakened in this time

I've been playing with this faction and i realized that the catapults from Mordor have more range than the ballista's expansion from Rivendell's fortress. So, i would suggest, being the unique long ranged unit from them, to increase a bit the range of the ballista's expansion, at least enough to counter other long ranged units, as the Mordor's catapults, also, the upgrade what adds magical damage to the towers in your fortress, perhaps could affect to the ballistas too, having a similar effect than an Elven Bombardment Ship firing.

First of all i wanted to congratulate you for the amazing job in ressurecting this epic game in such a manner. Nothing short of miraculous. 

 

Now for my elephant in the room:

 

Can you, please, enable custom heroes (create a hero) for the Rivendell Faction/ Rohan (sorry for going out of topic, but i think is worth it)?

 

Once again, thank you guys for the amazing hard work.
