G'day!

Today I started a long journey to create no less than a collection of twenty-two maps in order to complete War of the Ring mode for Rise of the Witch-king. I started on Dorwinion, a map with four entry points from the map of Middle-earth, and decidedly has four places for bases. Spending six hours, I designed, sketched, sculpted, painted and positioned vanilla assets, because I will be creating this for the vanilla game. For Director's Cut I may create new structures and terrace wall terrains for the Free Peoples living in Dorwinion, however, I felt that Gondor structures suited their history and potential architecture.

As a bonus I designed the map as a mirror map. Except for the more special maps, like fortress or those that I know the lay of the land for, each of these RotWK vanilla maps will be mirror maps with the number of players and potential team set-ups will be based on the surrounding maps and how many War of the Ring spawn points there will be.

Biddy is going to create a fantastic mod and the mapping team at Director's Cut will be assisting him in getting the very large collection of maps that he needs. Let us hope that he sticks around and creates The Special Extended Edition, Director's Cut, The War of the Ring mode for us too! =D

And now, Dorwinion. Inspired by The Dwarf Hold's Dorwinion map.

Click on the image for a closer view of the work in progress map.

This map is named The Fields of Celebrant. I made it a large map because there are six entry points possible in War of the Ring and because of its role in the History of Gondor and Rohan. Do look it up! =D

Thanks NJM! I am currently in the process of negotiating my maps into Age of the Ring. If you would like an active mod to publish your maps in, I recommend asking Mathijs or Rider of Rohan. And I'm sure you can convince them for the assets you need for Minas Tirith.

Into Age of the Ring? Nice!

The demo (Horse-Lords) was already lots of fun and this mod is promising to become really a huge and beautiful modification in it's further development.

And actually I've got to admit I always like trying some new nice maps and yours here look like they will be lots of fun.

Next map completed is Fords of Anduin.

It will be four player in War of the Ring. I am unsure if I should add Beorn's House (built from vanilla assets) to this map.

I imagined Anduid rather bigger than this.

Yeah... You're right, I'm going to expand the entire map. ;D

Fords of Anduin has been converted to a normal skirmish map, I'll be using a similar layout but making it much larger and more wider for the WotR Fords of Anduin.

A much larger map for Fords of Anduin. I've only just sculpted the island, so there is plenty more to do. Click on the picture for a link to full-size. The idea with the original Anduin map was to have it miniaturised, you can see that Mirkwood and the Misty Mountains are not that close, yet I placed mountains on one side of the river and Mirkwood trees on the other. This map I have yet to decide, although I may use the same idea again or just sculpt some foothills.
