The Death's Hand is something Yuri is building tho.

Well I was spoiled at Nobody Home, Withersins and Hamartia. At least the ground plan for them.

I never really considered that possibility.

I assumed the mission involved the Soviets building another MIDAS to end Yuri (and possibly the Allies as Sven said), because Death's Hand may be a reference to the Harkonnen Death's Hand missile from Dune 2000.

Side note:

The Allies campaign is MUCH more interesting than the Soviet one. The Allies are actually getting shit done and making progress against Yuri. They've united all of their subfactions, eliminate several Epsilon outposts with relative ease, and now they're moving in for the kill.

Meanwhile, the Soviets signed a peace treaty and are still suspicious of each other. It looks like Soviets right now are just setting up Foehn's campaign.

Well you know.... USSR...

And no, it's not really with ease. They kinda had to release all the remaining Allied forces in Relentless. They're getting a bit too desperate

That's true. I wonder if the Allies' "Hamartia" is their tendency to rush into battles without full knowledge of their enemy. They did it when they couldn't eliminate all the MIDAS missiles. They're doing it now with the Paradox Engine, and we haven't seen how fortified Antarctica is.

I wonder if Wintershins will be the battle in Antarctica, and Hamartia will be the Allies escaping from Yuri after they failed their invasion horribly. One of the theories is that Siegfried might be involved in Foehn, because the Nanofiber Sync has more than one creator. So Siegfried has to meet up with Yunru somehow.

For all we know, Rashidi could have been the one doing this. He did have ties with the Chinese after all, maybe he was Yunru's collaborator.

Edit: I finished Obsidian Sands. Not only I'm sure Rashidi worked with Yunru, but I'll bet we'll see him again.

My guesses follow on the current premises that is given:

Nobody Home

- Same as Hardic62's post above. I'm guessing that the majority of Foehn prototypes were "tested" in battle in Kashmir, with a small remainder being destroyed in Heartwork around the same time. Another guess is that the area in particular might be housing prototype particle colliders, and an Epsilon base nearby is threatening it's safety, thus taking over the base in the process.

Kill the Messenger

- Most likely info about the prototypes has slipped out, and in an effort to preserve the secret, you are tasked with tracking down and killing the informant/forces. Might have been resulted from the actions taken in Nobody Home.

The Remnant

- Seeing as this is an Origin mission, this is what probably take place right after Death's Hand, Hamartia, and Babel, where the shattered remnants of the Allies and Soviets band together and form the foundations that lead to the Foehn Revolt.

Just to add to this, under the pretext that these are under an "origin story," it might mean that the Foehn Revolt may get their own campaign in the long run, taking place many years after the end of the Mental Omega War. I do want to speak more about this by giving my insight from the Foehn unit descriptions, but I want to see if we are all on the same page about this before I do.

I somehow agree to this. The Foenh probably decided to show up after a decade since they need to build up before fighting on Yuri itself.

The Origin mission is kinda akin to the "backstory" of the Foenh before the "rebellion"

It's Withershins

And um, no. I'd assume Nobody Home ties to Thread of Dread....

...which also happened in Kashmir

Just to clarify, the post I made that you quoted is probably wrong at this time since 3.3.2 came out due to the mission "Thread of Dread." TL;DR, Both "Thread of Dread" and "Nobody Home" takes place in the same area of Kashmir, so it might mean the first Origin mission takes place some time after "ToD." "Kill the Messenger" might be about rooting out informants, and "The Remnant" "Vision" being the collaborative effort of the remaining Allies and Soviets (and maybe some Epsilon defectors) laying the groundwork for the Foehn Revolt itself. Still, these are just my speculations and I could be wrong by a long shot if the devs have something else in mind.

EDIT: BTW, the Origin missions are already a giveaway that it's a backstory :p.

Well if we're gonna be technical it's widdershins :V

I think the three missions of Foehn Origins will correspond with the final three missions of the other factions. Now that we have Thread of Dread, it seems likely. I'm hoping next update we'll get a Foehn origin mission.

I think somebody said 3.3.3 will have Foehn Origins.

After all, ToD.

If I remember it right, it's pretty much Word of Speeder, so yes, Origins will begin with the next update. Man, all this lore. (And the TV Tropes page is going a bit fast on updating too. They're already saying that Yunru was the one triggering that explosion in ToD.)

It's going to be Act 1 Epsilon all over again...

...limited units, covert ops...

I can imagine it now. You must destroy this entire Epsilon base with masterminds, battle tortoises loaded with epsilon adepts, virus patrols, Libra clones, using only 1 huntress, 1 knightframe, and 1 lancer.

Every five minutes a pack of mind-controlled Rocketeers will hunt you down, while a pack of dogs attacks your Huntress. You must micro your huntress to create a nanite cloud by killing dogs, then move your knightframe into the cloud, taking advantage of its dog immunity, while using the nano-heal to tank rocketeer damage and kill them. If any of your agents get mind-controlled, instant mission failure.

So we're potentially talking about a traitor in Epsilon's forces? Perhaps Scorpion Cell upon finding out Yuri's true purpose for world domination?

I do may say that is how it may sound it goes. Instead of what everyone think of an "traitor" in the Foenh it is more like the other way. Some Epsilon agent defects with valuable knowledge and Yuri doesn't want this guy to live.

Recent patch confirms that Epsilon had dissent now.

Didn't the lore said that Yuri put something to ensure something happens to Malver should he "rebelled"? Or was he manage to figure that out?

For now, it's still no explanation if Yuri activate that failsafe or Yuri just too late to realize the treachery.

And i wonder that Scorpion Cell is one of Proto-Foehn instead of Euro Alliance

Well since they lost the Paradox's backup battery in "Bitebitten" (I do wish someone upload the video of the scene) that is forcing the Allies to go for an all-or-nothing assault. Because they'll lose the chance of winning if the Paradox is no longer powered

Huh. Never thought of that. This makes perfect sense considering Malver developed psychic powers through sheer meditation.
