Try change the update to 1.06 and start the game, then close the game and change to 1.09.

Before applying 1.09, you absolutely have to install 1.06 manually: https://www.gamerepl...l-106-downloads

This is because the patch switcher doesn't handle a registry entry that the proper 1.06 patcher changes and which T3A:Online (like GameSpy before it) checks.

Error: It requests you to update BFME2

If you have not used the 1.06 offical patcher and used the Patch Switcher, you need to edit the registry (or apply patch 1.06 manualy. as suggested by Plokite_Wolf).

Open Regedit and go to: (Win 10)

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth II

change Version from

10000

to

10006

the saved key for "Version" afterwards should be 0x00010006 (65542)

ONLY USE THIS FIX IF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE USING REGEDIT
