I guess it only really matters if the game handles an upper limit to the number of sectors? I don't know if such a limit exists, but if it does, it might get nasty on larger maps.

If there is one, then I don't think anyone has hit it yet, and we're far from experiencing it (nobody's around doing super large maps anyway).

As someone with a bit more 3d modelling experience, the polygon placement above looks disgusting in many places. :> It's one of these things I'd rather do by hand, to avoid a shitty outcome. On the other hand, Commandos is an old game now, and the hardware of today doesn't really need all that detail optimization anymore.

Wouldn't surprise me they butchered it for the sake of easier movement, mouse action hovering, et cetera. The usual stuff we try to ignore :p

Can i convert Commandos 2 .sec files to Commandos 1 to edit them? If so how can I do this? Because the C2 sec editor in the tools by Rex doesn't allow you to add or remove a sector, so my plan is to convert it to Commandos 1, edit it, then convert it back to Commandos 2.

Download sec2to1.class from this here: https://sites.google...e/belcommandos/

But please note that some information from the C2 SEC file will be lost, since it has more flags and different zones than the C1 SEC.

Update:

I've uploaded another version, you can find it on the first page of this thread.

Now you can merge multiple SEC files into one.

In addition, under Settings > Export Options, you can adjust the coordinates of a SEC file. So you could move the whole mesh 2000 pixels to the right or 180 pixels up. Usually you won't need that option but it might come in handy if you want to merge existing maps into a single big one. It's a beta feature because I haven't really tested how it affects ramps and stairs.
