Downloaded MO today, can't load game

Hi all,

With the help of a kind person on the YR chat server, I installed Mental Omega after he recommended it.

He told me where to do and what to do (Extracting files and sending it to the RA2 folder) etc.

I did all of this, and loaded it up, did the updates, went into the multiplayer and private messaged the person (TREVOR) his username is.

He told me join his game for a quick practice and when he tried to launch the game, I was sent to the homescreen and got an error.

"Syringe Error 0.7.2.0 - Could not load executable"

Any help with this error?

I went to the file location, opened it, relaunched the game and the same thing happened.

Do you have a legit copy of Red Alert 2 with Yuri's Revenge installed in your computer? And if so, did you follow the instruction in http://mentalomega.com/Install ?

no it's the free versions, I got one from Xwis and one from CNCnet I think.

Then.... sorry, but you can't use XWIS to play MO. Not sure if CNCNet provides any Yuri's Revenge full installation, don't think they do tbh. You will need the file listed on the link I posted, and none of them must be cracked. (Some crack might work, but most don't)

How comes? i have the original cds somewhere in my attic, do I install RA and YR from there?

Trevor from MO said he used a downloaded version of RA and YR and can still play MO online?

If it's not cracked then it's possible, as long as they have the file necessary

But if you have the CDs, then you're also good to go. Just grab the YR 1.001 patch in the web (I use CNCLabs one, not sure if it's still available)

Just tried to do a YR update, and it says I have the latest file.

Okay so MO wont work with YR version 3.0 but it will work with version 3.3. How do I check what version I have?

Well if you have latest files, then most likely you have a legit 1.001. Also it's MO that is on version 3.0 and 3.3. Version 3.3 has a CNCNet client while in 3.0, you can access ingame main menu and has no CNCNet 5.

After copying the files in, make sure you set every .exe to use Admin rights, especially important if you're windows 8 and beyond. If you do use those OS, also use Windows XP SP3 compatibility settings and set your renderer to DDrawCompat

What does this part mean - set your renderer to DDrawCompat

1.0.1.1 is the YR version.

I right click on the MO icon in the RA folder, click run as Admin, the game loads as normal, I go to multiplayer and boom, doesn't load again, Syringe error. argh.

check what the syringe.log says?

Also, 1.0.1.1 in file properties is actually 1.001, don't worry about it

I think I'm looking at the right place:

Seems like you haven't copied the files needed into the MO folder. Can you take screenshot of your MO folder?

Is that where you're trying to launch Mental Omega from? You don't have any of the 7 Yuri's Revenge files in that directory..

probably not all files appear in screen shot. I have many more files in my MO directory than what appears in this image.

@JxMxT maybe try change the folder veiw options  to list instead details
