ok, I got gmax and the importer, but theres nothing saying where to put the "w3d-importer.mse"

You need to install the Renegade Public Tools and put it in C:\gmax\gamepacks\Westwood\RenX\scripts\startup

be sure you moved it to the "C:\gmax\gamepacks\Westwood\RenX\scripts\startup" folder

er...I can import, just the 3D file, it asked me for the skin file and somethin else, but didnt appear skinned whatsoever, but I still need a exporter to save as a 3DS.....

GMax can't export to anything except W3D, it's a limitation to prevent its use for other things. It's a stripped down version of Max. If it doesn't appear skinned, you need to reapply the skin in GMax. To export, you'll need the Renegade tools, which were linked above.

Even with these intructions it fails and I have installed the Renegade tools and all OK. The files doesnt seem to exist ANYWHERE on my hard disk :confused:
