I know some of you have probably seen it before (I'll adjust the hull when I get around to it Killakanz). Bit fuzzy images because of gmax and .jpg compression.

looks good, I'm curious how did you do the tracks? tracks have given me much grief when dealing with high poly models in the past...

can't wait to see it skined :tocol:

Tracks were done with the draw line tool, and then extruding the 2d line into a 3d figure. I'm sure there's a better way to do it though

i make a long thin rectangle, and then rotate it to take the shape i want it to, but the draw tool is prolly the way to go.... i mean, im a pretty crappy modeler, you probably know best, agile.

I does not seem hi-polly. It's more middel-polly, if there is such a thing. To me hi-polly are the tanks you walk next to in FPS'.

1916 polys, most BF1942 Abrams are mid 2000, so its pretty close to high poly for games. Its not real high poly though, 100000 polys is high poly.

My favoured way of making treads is with a tube :shiftee:

I rememeber Detail saying about the siloette(sp?) of the vehicle is a good place to start so we've been line drawing that then extruding and using the cap both ends modifier. Seems to work good for vehicles and very low polys. At least for Generals vehicles.

He's talking about spline modelling. You can find the line tool in the shapes tab on the tab pannel.

I think he said Hi-Poly so people didn't think that it would be any good in generals.

That's one helluva model.

I like to call things like that insane. I can't imagine how much time something like that would take.

I think he's talking about the image killakanz posted, although I can't see it, but since it links to turbosquid, I think it's a pretty good (and high poly) model, and I would assume it would take 3 weeks to make it, that's how long it takes to make a REALLY detailed model of a tank, working on it everyday of course

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

depends on talent. It could sometimes take someone only 2 to 3 days to make a very high detailed high high poly tank. but thats only because of contract issues and they have to get it done or they lose their client. But 3 weeks is the norm maybe sometimes longer. Thats usually how long stuff takes me but thats only cause I work with the model an hour out of the day. so techincally if you add up the hours it only comes up to 21...LOL..not even day so go figure..
