1. Navigate to your My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals (Zero Hour) Data\ directory

2. Delete the file called _tmpChunk.dat, it's ~2 MB in size for ZH. It may prevent some scripts from executing correctly.. for some reason this mostly occurs with the construction of GLA palaces, though other cases have been reported too.

Credit goes to Thudo for finding this out, the original post was lost a while ago

Hi,
Is it possible this file could be the cause of mismatch's during network play... Been doing a lot of network gaming at work here, after hours; after fiddling around a bit with Worldbuilder, we started getting mismatches, 1/2hr or 45 mins into a game. I reinstalled everything, but it still happens; just realised that reinstalling didn't get rid of this file.
We're gonna test this tonight; last 5 games have mismatched after 30mins or more. I removed the tmpChunk just now, we'll see if it works now.
Will let you know.

Yes tmpChunk is evil. Teams garrisoned inside things because of the absence of this thing..

Mismatches usually occur when the scripts modify a player's scoring system.

Guys

Is that conclusive? I am always happy to try stuff to improve stability.

Had almost given up on Zero Hour due to mismatches and since putting in Akkrands AI things have improved immensely (apart from getting our butts kicked by his AI ! )

Conclusive? It certainly is the cause of some problems. Players who want a good challenge should always delete that file before starting a game. I assume that it dumps old script info there that is run once the game is started again, and EA was probably too lazy to program a mechnism that deletes it after every game. Clever EA
