Yea, strategy points are sacred and same for the Bombing runs... at least in the demo, they are quite powerfull.

Bombing runs are awesome if you can get a disposable unit, like an infantry platoon, into an enemy base.
I've noticed that the gameplay kinda gets old quickly though...

On ground, its uburly a dependant unit on unit thing. And even so, TIE maulers pwn all. It's quite frustrating with the Rebel Alliance, it's so hard to destroy enemy troops if you don't micromanage. Damn TIE Maulers.

TIE Maulers die quickly to anti-vehicle units like T2B tanks and Plex soldiers, though.

Early game they're a pain, and they are both strong and weak against Plexies...

Plex soldiers own them as long as they don't charge straight at them.

That's the problem, whenever I micro them to attack the TIE Maulers, they always insist on going right in front of them...

TIE Maulers can be owned by anything except Rebel Troopers, really, but I've found the Assault Speeder the most effective against them. I've also found that in skirmish, the Imp AI rarely builds AA turrets, making the Speeders very valuable and very effective against almost everything.

Most games have their rushes. In EAW space combat, you have the bomber rush. Just build a ton of bombers and a few fighters (especially A-wings if possible) early on, and send all of them for the enemy. Go for the space station first. Even if they have anti-fighter support (which they should by the time you have 10+ bomber squads) you'll probably be able to zip right past them. A single bombing run should be enough to take out 1-2 hardpoints. Good targets are the comm array, supply dock, hangar and shield generator. Once those are down and if you still have bombers left, take out any other hard points. Your opponent is crippled for the rest of the match, leaving you to mop up the remains.

A bomber rush done right.

If you ever find yourself in this situation, just pull the plug and blame a power failure. :p

the easiest way to beat the galactic conquest (or whatever it's called) is to take advantage of the AI's severe lack of AA and send a raid party of 3 squads of Speeders. they devastate buildings and most vehicles, but they are most effective against the AT-AT, AT-ST, and the pirate vehicles. once you eliminate all of the vehicles and buildings, just go under the retreat menu and choose "Auto-Resolve" and all of the infantry will die and you will be victorious. this also robs the enemy of their space station above the planet, which saves to the trouble, time, and units of going after one. all you need to do is send an uber fleet (My fav is 5 Mon Cal Cruisers, 10 of all of the rest of the units, and as many heroes as possible) to mop up what remains of the Empire's fleet above the planet.

Funny. When I tried that, only one of the speeders came back. :p

I attacked their ground base with speeders. They got shot down by 2 AT-AAs and also several AA turrets.

When you send down only speeders, the only thing your enemy makes is AAs... Therefore, 1 squad of shooters should accompany them.

No, this was on a planet land assault, I landed the speeders right at the start and rushed for their base. They couldn't have seen them coming.

Hmmmm, but it is wise to send infantry with them, and send them first, so they will make AI turrets.
I have found lots of AT-ATs get destroyed by a couple of rebel tanks....
UNREALISTIC!
