I use AVG myself, find it pretty good. It doesn't use as much memory as Norton either.

I would say AVG Free is the best one, its simple to update and runs scans automatically.

I fear the day when I find something that does use as much memory as Norton.

There's probably programs, though whether they are virusscanners or not I don't know. I didn't notice it myself really as I have enough memory on this computer.

I'd recommend it to save them money even if they DO. Fantastic piece of software.

I'd recommend McAfee, it's pretty cheap, $29.99 for a year, including the CD and everything. And it doesnt use much memory at all.

For one year. Which means that every year you're paying thirty quid, when AVG gives you all the benefits without the obvious drawback.

AVG is the best free one. NOD32 is the best if your willing to pay.

It also has a more reliable virus library, and is developed by THE original personal anti-virus company.

Doesn't that just indicate it may be obsolete? And if it was soo good, why are there so many other ones that I've actually heard of?

Because people buy them? I'm just stating my personal fav. McAfee has been around since the 80's. They have a good reputation and make a great product that never fails.
