well i would like to make one but this is really complicated and i am not sure where to start from. and there isnt anything special on technical side of stuff, you just check EXPORT TRANSFORM and export the anim :) everything else is just something about talent and patience :)

Well it could be something like:

- Explain how it works (bones, frames, differences between units/buildings)
- Under 3dsmax how to do that (Auto key, move the frames bar)
- Then the MOST important part: Patiente history, observe the movements and to try to reproduce them...
- Some tricks (bind the model, import animations and use the 'merge animations' thing)
- And then the exportation settings

.... so what do you think about that? If you want I can help you...

that's exactly what I mean. those kind of practical things may be very obvious to you, but many people don't know them and for them it could be what's holding them back from being great animators

i see you're already working on it, btw :)

i was experiment with inverse kinematics and such stuff in max at the weekend. this is what i ended up with after several f****d anims. concept of the machine is from RotW but the anim if 100% from scratch. i dindt bother with the model much. obviously it is just for you to see more than couple of bones :p

well i am kinda unsure about it. imo it doesnt make sense to make tutor for that since there are some tutorials about animating on the net and max have very nice tutorials for that too. and there isnt anything special on animating for BFME then making any other anims. you just need good eye and a bit of luck to make good anim. there isnt any magic behind my animation work...well, there is inverse kinematics but that one is described at max tutorials and i cant ( also i dont want to) cover that with my tutor because it is kinda hard to understand and i use only from time to time.

Maybe you could just describe how to correctly import and export anims, including information about how the bones and stuff work (because it's different from "regular" 3ds max animation) :)

it isnt...i pointed somewhere else. anything that you can animate in max can be exported w3d skl and then as w3d anim. it is just the importer that makes them look diffrent from normal max bones but in fact those are bones and for RotW EA use biped which is another how to animate. i try that and it works quite fine. also there is nothing else than EXPORT TRANSFORM that you need to do.

small topic buff. those are based on the scene from TTT where orcs attack osgiliath, before ambush we can see some rangers and two of them were source of inpiration for those anims. i notice several bugs after rendering them but i am too lazy to render those again :p i hope that we will find some use for them in RA.

404 Not Found.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides
By the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will,
Shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness,
For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger
Those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

thats really easy :p normaly go to render settings and set ACTIVE TIME SEGMENT instead of SINGLE in COMMON setting of the render. them down set the RENDER OUTPUT as avi file of any name you want and then press RENDER. it will render frame by frame and make avi of them :p
