Hi all, complete noobie here.

All i want to do is scale down Legolas as i think he is far too powerful in the campaign, often killing 100's more enemy than any other hero.

I've tried a few things from different sites but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

I want to either reduce the damage Legolas' bow does or the speed he fires...

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Copy your INI.big file in the EA games folder and rename the copy to something like __INI.big, or __mod.big. The underscores will cause the game to read your file above everything else. Do not touch INI.big, only edit your copy (__mod.big or whatever you named that file). Open that file with a program called finalbig.exe: http://www.the3rdage...item-52?addview

You will see a list of file names then, you will need to find data/ini/gamedata.ini and in that file, search for LEGOLAS_BOW_DAMAGE. You will find a line that looks like this:

#define LEGOLAS_BOW_DAMAGE                60

Change 60 to the value you like. Less is less, obviously. To make him fire slower, play with these values:

#define LOT3A_LEGOLAS_PREATTACKDELAY             800
#define LOT3A_LEGOLAS_DELAYBETWEENSHOTS         0
#define LOT3A_LEGOLAS_FIRINGDURATION             0

Increasing the preattack delay will make him aim longer, so that would be a start :p

Thanks for the swift reply, I have tried these changes but it doesn't seem to be making any difference.

I have changed attackdelay to 100000 just to see what happens but he is still rapid firing... and damage down to 1 yet goblins die with two shots.

These changes do affect the campaign dont they?

Yes, they should affect the campaign. In some rare cases, the campaign overrides default values with a map.ini. That is not the case for Moria and Lothlorien however. Is your __mod.big in the Program Files\EA Games\The Battle for Middle-earth™ directory? Where is the __mod.big file? Is it at the top or at the bottom of the folder?

Try renaming the file to _zmod.big, maybe that works then. :p
