I'm not really sure if this is in the right place or not, but I've got a question that really only the people who frequent here can answer. I just downloaded MO, and figured out a few things, but I've run into a problem. I know how I am about C&C games, and I am NOT good at managing economies. There's all these cool things and odds are that I'll never be able to afford any of them in the numbers I so desire.

Does anyone know how to increase the frequency of ore growth from extractors as a global factor so that they regenerate faster than harvesters can take it away? I know it's a bit of an easy mode thing, but I solemnly swear this is for my own benefit. I don't ever really plan on doing PvP (too many bad experiences trying RTS games online. Did I mention I'm not good at this?), so it's just something for me to set up epic battles against the AI.

Does anyone know how to make this happen?

If it's alright by the MO team, I'll send you a modified rulesmd.ini with that upped.

Provided he can even survive the AI's :p

Also not sure if you know yet each of the Factions have a Passive Cash Generator akin to the Oil Derricks. The Industrial Plant for the Soviets. The Ore Purifier for the Allies. & the Cloning Vats for Epsilon.

ohh, so THAT's the file I needed to change. I just so happen to have one of those right here, and I've been reading for a while on what to do.

So, I take it I just stick the modified file in my RA2 directory and have my fun times? Most likely getting steamrolled by the AI as Atomic Noodles suggests?

I took some units I never use that AI loves (like kirov) and severely nerfed them. Kirovs in my custom rules file fire rocketeer pistols. :p

yeah, I just felt the wrath of a Kirov for the first time too. I know they're all over C&C box art, but I didn't know they inflicted "oh damn, your structure is a memory" level damage. However, it seems my modifications to the ore field did not take effect, so how exactly did you mod your game, Meyerm?

Also, being able to make more than one soldier or tank or aircraft at a time would be nice. Time to look at how to play this game on youtube then...

I don't know about ore field logic or anything. I just mod the rulesmo for my personal enjoyment. Added some ACT 1 campaign exclusive stuff and what not.

That's what I've been trying to do, but it's proven a difficult task. From the way I understand it, the mix files for MO are locked in order to prevent fan modding (somewhat hypocritical of them since this is already a mod of a game), and changing rulesmd does nothing.

Yes, you need MO's specific rulesmd.ini which is named rulesmo.ini to be used with their own executable.

I got a copy from someone, don't know how to extract. But I don't see why keeping it under wraps is such a big deal. I mean, it's a free mod of an existing game. If people want to mod the mod for their personal enjoyment like myself, more power to them.

It's mostly to protect the art assets from being stolen. I doubt Speeder is concerned about others modding it.

well, looks like modding this is beyond my reach. Kind of a shame. I guess I'll just have to deal with it the way things are, and "get gud" at the kids say.

You can mod the game if you wish, however don't expect much help if you get a random error, because it will be unknown what you actually did. :D
