put it in data folder and replace the same name file (back up first)
it is not steam_api.dll
but it is not recommended unless you have no way to run it through steam.

No issues starting the game trough Steam, or the desktop shortcut without CNC online.
I tried follow the LAUNCHER ISSUES with steam, hook it up, but nothing happened, log file is empty.
if start it from CNC online, it shows the logo, and exits.
log file is: ERROR: game.dat process not found.
system: windows7 32bit in a virtual machine (parallels desktop, hosted in a Mac)
I tried different network settings, shared and bridged, neither works
but if I install it on a PC, it works, so the problem is the virtual machine?
please help

I have a strange hunch it's a modified steam_api.dll that tricks the game that it's running Steam, but isn't. That's a common guest in pirated Steam rips (and quite effective), so I'm not sure if we want to see that link.
