It's 99% obvious that the Mental Omega will show up in the final missions.

The Foehn debrief in Tainted Empire suggests that the Mental Omega does global mind control.

Foehn unit descriptions talk about some catastrophic event in the past tense, so something really bad happened.

In terms of the narrative, an Act 3 ought to happen, and it seems to be Foehn vs Epsilon after Epsilon defeats Allies and Soviets.

There are so many obvious hints in Foehn trailers, teasers from ModDB, Twitter feed that an Act 3, Foehn vs. Epsilon, is going to happen.

It'd be weird if Act 3 was hyped up and then no Act 3 happens.

No, you're hyping yourself up for something that's never been confirmed. Yes it's evident Foehn is a resistance against a world ruled by Yuri set some time after the conclusion of act 2. However, it's never been confirmed there will be an act 3. It simply implies there is an ongoing conflict after, which doesn't necessitate a whole other campaign. Stories can be left open-ended and vague, and have been before. I would say hold off on the act 3 talk for now. Because time and time again I've seen speculation become expectation and then fans get pissed about devs not delivering on something the fans made up but was never confirmed.

Act 3, act 3... Why do we keep talking like an Act 3 is a sure thing? If I missed an announcement that's on me, but I wouldn't be talking about act 3 like it's going to happen for sure.

Speeder said that in patch 3.3.5,he'll wrap up Act 2.Withershins,Hamartia,Fatal Impact,Death's Hand,Reality Check,Babel,Vanishing Point,The Remnant-they still remain to be released.

I'm pretty sure that Hamartia and Death's Hand will show the fall of the Allies and the Soviets,Reality Check could be a nasty surprise for Epsilon or Allies and Soviets(Latter more likely).Babel could feature the infamous Mental Omega device being activated.

Vanishing Point sounds like a possible origins Mission for the Wings of Coronia(Based on the mission name and the briefing after The Great Beyond). The Remnant could occur around the same time as Babel.

Foehn missions are likely a thing, but they won't be like anything you have seen so far. :)

Well that's the thing that makes it all so sweet:-) .We'll have to keep our fingers crossed for patch 3.3.6,by then I think the first few Foehn campaign missions will release, heralding the beginning of Act 3.

Meyerm, let's be honest, there have been several such cases of devs disappointing fans.Like take EA Games for example.Generals 2 is mostly talked about as their biggest cancellation, but there's an even bigger one-the sequel to Renegade.Hell, that would revolutionized the FPS genre if it had released. But EA canceled it for the shittiest reason ever.C&C 4 was a classic case of a poorly executed idea.RA3 was an aberration, much like Empire Earth 3 and Ground Control 2.And please don't get me started on World of Warcraft and Blizzard.

That being said, how dare you insinuate that Speeder and the Mentalmeisters will betray us after all this far? They are not EA or Blizzard for hell's sake.Try to watch what you post next time.

PS-Your logic attacking the idea of an Act 3 baffles me.For all you know,in the following patches after 3.3.5,missions will come out, which will be marked in the website as Act 3 Missions-then?Don't say anything which you might have to eat later on.Anyway, the Mentalmeisters have been consistent with the missions and I'm sure they won't abandon the project at this stage like Shar Dundred did to his Legends of Arkain campaign series.

Speeder and Mentalmeisters are not gods. They are simply mod developers that we don't pay for their works. That also made the development take quite awhile since they are not as constrained as the devs of said games.

And let's be honest to ourselves here. How many ambitious mods out there that actually made it to the very end? The MO mod can still potentially went to an abrupt end if the devs are finally burnt out. They're humans too. They still need to make money. This is simply just a passion project

I'm sure Speeder and co. would appreciate it a bit, but let's not be an extremist here.

Plus, some people are already feeling a bit betrayed due to how Mary-Sue Yunru felt and how anime-ish the Foehn origin felt.

I'm not being an extremist-even I know this as well.Speeder and his team won't run out of passion, that's for sure but if they run out of funds-well,that will be tragic.I for one wouldn't want MO to end like that.

As for development,I know how long this stuff takes.Take for example,Malfurion's Quest.Last time I checked at the Hive Workshop, the campaign is still not complete yet.Turnro said it might not release before late 2019.

I'm insinuating anything about the dev team. Just telling you that you will always be disappointed if you let your speculations run wild and turn into expectations. Sure there MIGHT be an Act 3. I'll bet in likelihood that there will be more missions post act 2, but I wouldn't expect a fully flushed out 3rd campaign series. Take what's given for what it is, and don't draw conclusions off of possibilities. All I'm saying. Maybe you're always disappointed because you take speculation as assumed promises.

Wow.Wow.Just freaking Wow.

I have this to say-your skepticism about Act 3 refuses to die easily. It WILL happen, all in due time. And I don't take speculations as assumed promises like you used to do.Never did, never will.I usually hope for the best but prepare for the worst.I don't let my speculations run wild in your sense.Sure I have a rich imagination but it never grieved me in that respect.

PS-I will keep my fingers crossed on a full-fledged Foehn campaign for Act 3 along with an Epsilon campaign.

Speeder and his team won't run out of passion

That's a bit too much of an expectation y'know.

Anyway, fingers crossed on Act 3. Have they really ever confirmed that there will be an Act 3 btw? Kinda forgot. If anybody finds any quotes, that might clear everything up.

I mean if Act 3 doesn't happen, some mappers might just pop in to make their own Foehn missions. I did my co-op already sooooo

Nope, no confirmation of any kind about Act 3.

It's just teasers and like actually.

This can happen, and Act 3 might happen. It ultimately lies on how they feel after completing Act 2 I believe.

Meyerm is right though. As a game developer myself, and one that communicates with the userbase, if there is one thing I seen as one of the most dangerous way of thinking can be summed up in this sentence: "how dare you insinuate that Speeder and the Mentalmeisters will betray us after all this far".

This sort of thinking is almost bordering on insane. It is basically a subtle blackmailing the developers, almost like a sort of threat that they MUST live up to your expectations, OR ELSE. So yeah. Stop that.

We are all -speculating- about Act 3. We are not 100% sure there will be one, but hey, at least we keep talking, and it's better to have that than an empty forum. (Also what's that bit about World of Warcraft? :V)

(As for MM doing this for free, I still think they should have a Patreon. Said this time and again, I almost WANT to pay for this mod. It's that great and it was that influential even to my own life and career.)

Btw, for a quote, there's this old one, from "Mental Omega News Bulletin #18 - (8/07/2015) - Playthrough!" :

"Work on a completely new side, more missions for Act Two, and new additions to the equipment roster of the vanilla sides takes quite a lot of time and resources. We're always looking for contributors who would like to join us in making this project even bigger. The addition of Side 4 with its own 12-mission campaign is the endgame goal for Mental Omega. We wouldn't like to repeat Westwood and add a side which does not have its own campaign."

Yeah, EA isn’t quite done butchering C&C yet so they still get to keep rights to the franchise, and they would probably sue if the mentalmeisters made any kind of profit.

You're taking this way too seriously.

I know this is a hobby for Mentalmeisters, so they may either take another few years to complete Foehn campaign or just get burnt out and never do it. I'm totally okay with either of these options.

Balancing real-life that demands your attention and your passions which you want to give all your attention to, is a difficult struggle.

And I don't think being disappointed is that big of a deal.

So I'm just going to keep hyping myself up, cause I'm really excited about the lore and work that Mentalmeisters have invested in the game so far. Even though I'm anticipating an act 3, I'm still impressed by what has been achieved already.

I'm not sure, quite a few mods use patreon. As long as the mod itself is free, there should be no legal concerns. It isn't done, because there are some issues regarding getting money from the mod:

  1. You would need to distribute the income among the people involved in the mod and this could be source of conflicts
  2. You would need to live up to the expectations of those, who paid. This would mean that the devs would need to pump out content much faster and things could get rushed.

In theory the mod does get some small income, but only enough for covering the expenses of the official website.

The Team prefers to keep it free, even though some ungrateful people do/did get money out of it (*cough* Doomy *cough*)

Okay that I didn't actually know. Though I wonder if that includes the origins missions or not. A sort of Terminator-esque resistance against a pervasive all powerful new world order in the form of Epsilon would be an exciting campaign to play. Gotta wonder though, since it seems to be implied in unit quotes and descriptions that Foehn is fighting Epsilon many years after Yuri presumably wins in Act 2, would Foehn have all the neat futuristic tech we see and Epsilon would still be using the same equipment?
