Hello,
what you call 'hacking' here is nothing but the first steps into modding, which is a huge part of this community!
If you are interested to learn more then go to the tutorials on the3rdage.net or to the modding sections of this forum.
Note that you won't be able to play online anymore, once you've changed the game files. Make sure to always create backups and to add changes with the -mod command if possible.
