Hi, I have played Commandos Behind Enemy Lines and Commandos Call of Duty since they came out and I love them both to this day. However I never got around to playing the 2nd or 3rd games. They seem to keep going on offer on steam so I'm thinking about buying one. Which is better out of Commandos 2 and Commandos 3? they both look similar

You can await GoG's next sale and get both for approximately the price Steam asks for one of them. And get them DRM-free, with the ability to save the installer however you want for offline use.

Commandos 2 100%

Commandos 2:

+Much better designed and bigger levels

+More levels

+Focuses on stealth instead of blasting guns away like C3

+Much more replay value

+Mods such as destination paris which adds even more content

+Works fine on new versions of Windows

-A little bit easy compared to C1 and C3, but destination paris mod fixes this.

Commandos 3:

+Slightly better graphics and effects

+Few new weapons and abilities

-Not as many levels and are rather small in comparison to C2

-They tried to add action elements that don't really fit the play style

-Timelimits

-No hotkeys unless you use a mod

-Can have trouble running on Windows 8 and 10 properly

Overall Commandos 2 is a much better made game, commandos 3 has always felt rushed to me, but it's not horrible bad either, just not in the same level as 1 and 2 :D

Ok thank you I think I will go for commandos 2 then. The stealth aspect is the reason I like the first Commandos and makes it uniqe to other strategy games. And the graphics seem to have aged a lot better than a lot of other games from around the same time. I may get commandos 3 later too but I have windows 10. What problems does it have? Does it not run completely or does it just have a few issues that you can fix?

It's issues are:

Menus flicker

Sniper scope has wrong colour on windows 8, and on windows 10 using the sniper makes the game crash completely so its impossible to pass the first training and stalingrad mission.

You can play the central europe missions up to the mission where you are on a train then it has major graphic issues making it unplayable.

The only campaign that is playable is the Normandy one and that is only 3 missions.

The only workaround known so far is to make the game run in a Window with an extra program called D3Dwindower. But the problem is the window is very small.

Ok thank you! I bought Commandos 2 on steam and I am loving it so far. Wish I played this earlier.
