building new faction porters

Well copying the Fortress code and giving the new fortress a different CommandSet sounds like the best idea to me. Or you add a CommandSetUpgrade to an existing fortress template, triggered by an upgrade that your new faction gets initially (you can give factions default upgrades in playertemplate.ini). :)

Wonder what the best way is to have my new faction build its own porter instead of the one for the faction whose fortress I'm using. I found you can build one from the hero menu if you add your porter to the hero list, but once you build one you can't do more. Should I just copy the fortress so each faction has its own fortress, or is there another way?

I tried making a new fortress, copied the .bse file for wild using worldbuilder and renamed it, but I couldn't get it to use my new commandset.

So, I went to commandbutton.ini and changed the command to build the builder by adding 'needsupgrade' to the options line and adding the line neededupgrade: upgradegoblinfaction, (if I remember correctly) for thegoblin builder and the same sort of thing for my new builder, and in commandset put a command for each builder in the fortress commandset. That worked, now each faction can only build their own builder, though the other one's button is visible grayed out. I mentioned that just for the sake of anyone else who might read this looking for help.

I would appreciate a tutorial on how to make a new fortress if there is one available.

Well there is a tutorial on bases, that might be useful for making a new fortress.

But the fortress itself consists of multiple parts, the unpacking, which is bases and the objects in the fortress, and well any possibly upgrade or whatever you would want to add to the fortress citadel.
