Introducing S.E.E. - Director's Cut: Yazneg

Yazneg: "Zorzor go-kairaz obguraniz." I barely escaped with my life. Azog: "Ki-kairag baganig him. Ombar bunish!" Far better you had ... paid with it!

The Misty Mountains crawl with the spawn of evil, and the armies of hell march across Middle-earth to bring about the darkening of the world. The Special Extended Edition, Director's Cut releases three more heroes this holidays: Yazneg, cruel captain of the Hunter Orcs; Fimbul, lieutenant of Azog, and finally, the long awaited Bolg, son of Azog.

A life of darkness and death has Yazneg endured, cruel captain of the Hunter Orcs of Gundabad, serving under Azog. He was there when Azog ordered the migration of evil creatures into Eriador and during the occupation of Weathertop. After the discovery of the Dwarvish expedition, Yazneg personally led the attempted capture of The Company of Thorin Oakenshield. After failing in this mission, Azog sentences him to death, eaten alive by Wargs tearing gizzards from his stomach.

Yazneg, captain of the Hunter Orcs

A look at Yazneg's appearance shows that he has sustained either heavy battle damage or undergone self-mutilation, possibly both as the Hunter Orc culture values physical scarring and pain. He wears a vest of Dwarven faces, and his back armour is a saw-like silhouette of bone.

Nazgûl describes the sculpting of this Hunter Orc:

This Orc is fun to sculpt, as his face is pretty unsymmetrical, which makes him look more personal and interesting. One can really tell that Weta put more effort into this guy, as he initially was intended to portray Azog, instead of the all* CGI version that PJ decided upon in the end.

From Revora Forums, Special Extended Edition, Development, Heroes, SEE Yazneg.

*Yazneg did become CGI too; the model replicated the actor's prosthetics and makeup.

In The Special Extended Edition, Director's Cut, the cheap hero of the Misty Mountains can travel on foot or on his vicious fell warg.

I hope that you have enjoyed this news article. Next week, The Special Extended Edition, Director's Cut will release another hero of the Misty Mountains faction. Be sure to check out the ModDB article too. Have a good day.

Thanks Nazgul. I've been watching this mod fluctuate to 50th popularity currently on ModDB. That feels good. ;)

Well, that's awesome Matt  :thumbsuphappy:

I addes all them "pornographic" images of the SEE dc Balrog in the Images section btw  :thumbsupxd:
Funny, how that sole creature made me start modding this game back in 2006, with the question "How do I make the summon Balrog power last longer?"

Yeah Lu, for heroes I am pretty generous with poly count. They go from several million to about 3-6k per unit. For horde units I try to keep it around 1500-2000 polys, even though I wish I could go below 1000/unit.

The Great East Road map

Passing through the Lone-lands, this road was once maintained by Arnor, but has fallen into disrepair as only a few wanderers travel along it now.

Great_East_Road_2.png

Both the Company of Thorin Oakenshield and The Hunter Orcs of Gundabad used the Great East Road to travel through the Lone Lands. They set up camp where they could and journeyed on through the June rains.

The Great East Road is a modified Tournament Rhudaur map.

The chase of the Hunter Orcs are an addition of The Hobbit trilogy; however, the wild is still a dangerous place and in the book, the company senses trouble on either side. It is fortunate for the Hobbit and the dwarves that wicked things do not trouble them until their search for the white stones of Rivendell, through the treacherous moorlands.

Gandalf’s scouting mission during the event with the trolls was met with folk from Rivendell who warned him of these dangers.

Elrond had heard of the trouble. The Rangers were out, and he had sent two of his own people to report. They told me that trolls had come down from the North... My friends had no food to spare [for us], for they are hunting: there are other wicked things abroad.

After a time the flat lands began to rise before them; still far away there were hills looming up, and as they drew nearer Bilbo saw that they were clad in dark trees, and on some there seemed to be the ruins of grim towers and walls. They had an evil look, as if men of evil days had built them.*

Quoted from a post-publication draft in The History of the Hobbit: Volume II: Return to Bag-End by J.R.R. Tolkien and John D. Rateliff.

*These were castles built by the “fallen evil kingdom of Rhudaur” during the time when the Witch King ruled from Angmar.

This looks very beautiful... and I think you could have skipped the "The Great East Road is a modified Tournament Rhudaur map.", I don't call my Mrikwood Scouts, modified Legolases (tho they aren't).

But wouldn't be apropriate that the castle were made during the good days of Rhudaur?

Not much has actually changed from Tournament Rhudaur, it is essentially the same map with a few ruins and I removed the trolls from Weathertop and added them into an area close to an interesting easter-egg if you can see it (not in the screenshot, in the map).

With the evil castles I'm paraphrasing The History of the Hobbit, it is Tolkien's words or meaning. =p However, it could be that Bilbo is misinterpreting the ruins. I used the Weathertop pieces and did not intentionally make them evil-looking.

Well, in the films, Dol Guldur is technically Númenorean in origin, yet also definitely classifies as evil. As Rhudaur was taken over by Angmar at one stage, the castles looking evil wouldn't be too hard to imagine.
