No, sorry, I was waiting for you to try a nick name that comprised only numbers. Perhaps you should use on that does not contain the numeral 1.

I think there is an illegal character in your CD key. Try the solution Tarkom suggested (you actually don't have to reinstall, you can just edit it directly).

Ok sorry there was a missunderstanding,

i made a nickname with numbers only and without a "1" included....

 

same error as before.

I've tried to change the serial in the registry. I added all minus between each four signs.

I think this message is from your system, right? In my nickname there is no '1', why do i get this error?

Perhaps the system doesn't like my email adress?!

 

(Because the server-login for C&C Generals is my email adress as set in the account (http://cnc-online.net/account/)...)

Or is really the ingame nickname, making problems?

It's not actually the server sending this message, but the server has a problem decoding one message so it doesn't respond. The game then interprets this as a nickname problem and gives you the error. But just for reference, what is your nickname?
I might have to ask you to connect to our development server for additional debugging.

FYI 'Your nickname is bugged as '1' and will forbid online gaming. Try relogin.' is a message generated by GenTool. It reads the gamespy messages and detects if the nickname is bugged. It happened sometimes on original GameSpy server, but was usually resolved by logging into another account.

Hmmm... could GenTool be the problem? Can i install the requiered software from cnc-online as a stand-alone without GenTool?

xezon will correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we have a serial number with a carriage return or other control character at the end once (which was not immediately noticeable), which was causing a problem.
