I recently installed my Origin CNC3 Tiberium wars on my Windows 10 laptop.  I used CNC3 yesterday with no problems.  However, now when I try to launch the game I get the following error:

"This application is not compatible with the installed operating system.  Please upgrade to Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or better."

Perhaps either the game updated or Windows updated or both?  I tried going into the exe properties and running in Win 7 compatibility mode.  I also went into my NVIDIA control panel and set the graphics card as the default instead of automatic.  Unfortunately non of these fixed the problem.  I think I can get this to work again by uninstalling the game and reinstalling but that is a pain as I'll loose all my saved games.

So my two questions:

1) How can I fix this Windows 10 launch issue and why was it working on day 1 but on day 2 it doesn't work?

2) Is there a way to copy my saved games so that if I uninstall CNC3 and reinstall I can copy and paste over my saved games?

Thanks!

First, run the game as administrator and see if that changes anything. Perhaps it's trying to access registry files and the UAC isn't letting it.

Secondly, if you're using The Ultimate Collection version, disable Origin for all games within the collection and install the fixed launchers.

2) Is there a way to copy my saved games so that if I uninstall CNC3 and reinstall I can copy and paste over my saved games?

Absolutely.

There's two locations you'll need to look for:

C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars

and

C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars

(NOTE: The AppData folder is hidden by default as a system folder. To see it, see this guide)

The same goes for Kane's Wrath, Red Alert 3, Uprising and Tiberian Twilight. Generals and Zero Hour only have the folder in Documents.

Also, you will get that same error message if your version of Origin is not up-to-date. See if there are any outstanding updates that need to be applied.

Thanks guys!  I appreciate your help & quick response.

I tried to run as Administrator but got the same error message.  I have not tried installing that launcher fix as my anti-virus warned me that this site is a security risk and contains a virus.

Is there a website from EA or a U.S. website where I can download the same launcher?

Thanks!

This is my Anti-Virus warning report about that site:

Threat Name: Trojan.Gen.SMH

That's a false positive. Your antivirus is reading things as viruses when they are actually safe files. If I were you, I'd completely remove it and replace it with a better one, say Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Hi guys. I have been trying to make my C&C3 works on Win10.

I have the DVD version (my DVD still works from all these years).

I have installed the game and updated it to version 1.09.

When I launched the CnC3, only launcher screen appeared and then nothing else.

Everything just stopped there. Any help?

Unfortunately, this is a known issue with Windows 10 and disc versions of these games.     See;  Windows Update KB3086255 breaks C&C!. You will need to find a workaround for the missing DRM support in Windows 10 or get the game on Steam or Origin.
