So I've checked an old post that went throught this site, but i'm still lost on how to get unlimited (or a huge limit) of CPs. Since there is a 1.06 patch, it makes it impossible to modifiy the INI folder. Anyone knows how to make it happen ? Thanks for answers

Well... the 1.06 folder overwrites the INI.big. Open the 1.06 file, go to gamedata.ini and edit this part:

  ;;; COMMAND POINTS FOR MULTIPLAY ;;;
  GoodCommandPointsMP2 = 200         ; 2 players
  EvilCommandPointsMP2 = 400

  GoodCommandPointsMP3 = 150             ; 3 players
  EvilCommandPointsMP3 = 300

  GoodCommandPointsMP4 = 150             ; 4 players
  EvilCommandPointsMP4 = 300

  GoodCommandPointsMP56 = 100         ; 5-6 players
  EvilCommandPointsMP56 = 200

  GoodCommandPointsMP78 = 80         ; 7-8 players
  EvilCommandPointsMP78 = 160

There you go. Note that the comatibility to other 1.06 players will be gone as soon as you change that, so making a backup of 1.06 would be wise.

I've tired that before, it doesn't work. But after 4 hours manipulating folders, I've finally discovered how. If anyone needs it, i got a folder for you where you can easily manipulate the code even after the patch. I got a version where there is no balrog, no army of the dead and 2500 maximum units ;)

I don't want to see your EA games folder then. Just changed my 1.06 patch file, with perfect results:

So, to everyone: You don't need to do anything special. It's easily changed and only takes a few minutes. Try editing the patch file. It should work with a clean installation of BFME 1.06. ;)

@Echo,

Do you have any guides on how to do this as I have tried editing the INI files for both the game, and the patch and nothing is working it is just prompting Debug from the launcher?

Thanks,

If it's giving you a 'debug' error, we call that a game.dat crash and it means you have done something incorrectly or you have incompatibility with something. Could you please explain the steps you took?

Hi Kwen,

Originally I tried to edit the ini.big file as that's all that shows up in the folder. I edited from what it was to as follows in the relevant section :

;;; CAMPAIGN BONUS CAPS
  GoodCommandPointLimit        = 10000
  EvilCommandPointLimit        = 20000
  PowerLimit            = 100
  ResourceMultiplierLimit    = 10.0

  ;;; INITIAL MAX RING LEVEL PLAYER CAN ACHIEVE
  InitialMaxRingLevel = 100 ;2

  ;;; Resource Bonus Percentage
  ResourceBonusMultiplier = 50.0                        ; 10% bonus per region conquered

  ;;; COMMAND POINTS FOR SOLO PLAY HUMAN (INCLUDING LIVING WORLD) ;;;
  GoodCommandPoints = 500
  EvilCommandPoints = 1000

  GoodCommandPointsBonus = 50         ; bonuses for every territory captures in living world
  EvilCommandPointsBonus = 100

  ;;; COMMAND POINTS FOR SOLO PLAY AI ;;;
  GoodCommandPointsAI = 6000
  EvilCommandPointsAI = 12000

  ;;; COMMAND POINTS FOR MULTIPLAY ;;;
  GoodCommandPointsMP2 = 6000         ; 2 players
  EvilCommandPointsMP2 = 12000

  GoodCommandPointsMP3 = 6000             ; 3 players
  EvilCommandPointsMP3 = 12000

  GoodCommandPointsMP4 = 6000             ; 4 players
  EvilCommandPointsMP4 = 12000

  GoodCommandPointsMP56 = 6000         ; 5-6 players
  EvilCommandPointsMP56 = 12000

  GoodCommandPointsMP78 = 6000         ; 7-8 players

  EvilCommandPointsMP78 = 12000

However that didn't work, and instead I tried to edit the file named _patch106 alone, which didn't work, I then tried editing both the patch file and the ini file.

Others have had to go into the game directory, then the data folder, then the ini folder, then change the gamedata file. (Ea Games->BFME->data->ini->gamedata)

I have however a standalone directory in program files called the battle for middle earth with just the main ini.big file or the patch files to edit.

Have managed to make the change before, and wonder if this is purely down to using the launcher etc of third age rather than anything else.

Thanks very much,

J

I am not sure if this has been asked but i want to mod TBFME1 Online but i cant get it to work. i have been trying to increase command point limit as well as make the buildings upgrade faster and produce resources faster but it is not working. i have tried adding the modded files back into a modded ini.big file but it still dont register in game. what i really want is a mod like maniacs unit mod where they have increased horde/battalion numbers.
