Rotwk Living World Map (WOTR map) 3d Modeling problem

rotwk 3ds max 8 3d modeling living world map lwm wotr war of the ring .w3d

Best Answer OperationRenegade, 08 April 2016 - 09:15 PM

I am using the improved bfme .w3d importer from T3A in 3ds max 8 (I have tried the original too).

Don't know why this type of 'error' happens (a similar problem happened with the importing of the lw banners on two pcs) .

I have managed to get both lwm map files working by flipping the polygon normal (not inverting all the regions z positioning) of each region individually so the incorrectly rendered side is now on the bottom with all the vertices lining up with lmr_regfill (ie the 3d wotr map).

Hi everyone,

I have been having this problem with the following living world map (ROTWK WOTR map):

lmr_border.w3d

lmr_highlight.w3d

The problem is that when I import them using the w3d importer the usused sides of the 'splines' are rendered fine, but the topside which is actually used doesn't render correctly. The original files appear fine in w3dviewer. This applies to both files.

I'm using 3ds max 8 with the enhanced w3d importer (I've have tried the original w3d importer, but it results in the same) and the game is ROTWK.

I followed the following guide to lwm files:

Any help is appreciated

Did you make a working and correct asset.dat file?

Thanks for the speedy response Geel.

re: lm_border

Yes, I did.

The edited version I did only shows the new region I put in (due to the rendering muck-up with all the original regions) in game

Unfortunately, that isn't the problem (Dare I say I'd prefer an asset problem :whathuh:).

The used side is clearly not rendered properly in the 3ds max 8 when imported (and w3dviewer after export).

What importer are you using to import it?

Oh darn, I wish I had understood your post better. I would have recommended to flip normals when you posted it. :p
