General Zero hour:

online matchmaking is good on everything, but it said I did not have the right version of the game

tried the patch, did not work, got the patch error old file does not exist. not able to join matchmaking games

a fix would be appreciated.

Please read and follow the pinned topic, How to Report Issues. I don't even know what game version or media you are using. Did you run your game "as administrator"?

• Command and conquer Zero hour
• Ultimate collection: via Origin client
• Able to connect to server: Server states we have the wrong version of the game, tryed to download the patch to get the game to the right version, comes up in a pop up box stating" error old file does not exist"
• OP; windows 10
• Your error log file: *none found in location %temp%*
• Able to connect, but cannot play with other players due to incorrect version and an error when patching the game: Gentool is installed and works fine

Origin games are already patched to the latest version and you should not attempt to patch them. You may find that attempting to do so has corrupted your game and you will have to reinstall.

As you are using the Ultimate Collection, you should install this; C&C Ultimate Collection Launchers.

From there, if you have GenTool installed, all you should need to do is to run the game "As administrator", log in and play.

If you do that and you still get that message, something is clearly wrong. Please could you let me know what happens?

FIXED: i reinstalled the game, and reinstalled the files needed, and everything now works. the problem i had with game version was an old inf file, that acted like a mod for the game i had installed years ago that no longer works. turned the infantry into the boss general glad to be online playing with others
