[Inquiry] Regarding Port 6667 Status..

Hey guys,

 

This is my first time posting here, but I used to be around in CnC community sometime long ago (I came from CGEN modding community (known as zero2, just a small peons), back in the good-ol days). First and foremost, thank you for the having CnCOnline around all these years. it's good to know that CnC community is still around all these years.

 

But enough about that. The reason I'm posting here is that, after going through the guide on connecting RA3 to CnCOnline, I still did not get CnCOnline to work, and only to find after some forum digging, my ISP blocks that peer chat port. The said issue (on port 6667) was never written in the main guide/troubleshooting so it was frustrating at first when I found out about it. 

Regardless, its also good to know that the dev team acknowledge this and working hard to find an alternative port. so I would like to find out whats the current status on the issue, and will there be any foreseeable ETA regarding this issue.

We made some (but not enough) progress on implementing a work around. It is a live issue for us though. We've had do divert much of our energy recently on a singe nuisance banned player from KW, who has been attacking the service. That as detracted from most things. We are conscious of the issue though. In the mean time, you could attempt to use a VPN, which many people are doing successfully to side step the issue. I suggest that you google for some. Sorry, we will get to this.

ah that's good to hear that you guys are in progress on the workaround. DDOS (I assume?) from a banned player is such a nuisance to deal with. I'll probably sit around and wait until there are further updates from you guys. (A bug tracker would be nice though for us to check on :> )

 

Anyhow keep us in the loop though, and let the devs know that they're doing a great job so far.

You could try using a VPN as a workaround for now, until we've updated our server and launcher.
